B. A. – History, Part-I
(For LVH Autonomous College, Nashik Colleges Affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune
University, Pune)
The Board of Studies in History at Loknete Vyankatrao Hiray Arts, Science and
Commerce Autonomous College, Panchavati, Nashik has undertaken a thorough and
visionary revision of the B.A. History curriculum to align it with the goals and principles of
the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This revision emerged through a collaborative
process involving a series of meetings, academic workshops, expert webinars, and
consultations with faculty and stakeholders to ensure that the revised syllabus meets the
standards of academic excellence, employability, and holistic development.
The restructured History syllabus seeks to ignite intellectual curiosity among students
while grounding them in the rich historical traditions, cultural heritage, and socio-political
developments of India and the world. It aims to cultivate analytical skills, historiographical
awareness, and research competence that are crucial in the 21st-century knowledge economy.
By exploring diverse historical narratives and methodological tools, students will develop a
nuanced understanding of the past and its relevance to contemporary society.
In line with NEP-2020’s emphasis on flexibility and skill integration, the curriculum
also encourages linkages with allied disciplines such as Political Science, Economics,
Sociology, and Cultural Studies, enabling students to form creative combinations and
broaden their academic horizons. The History program also embeds essential life skills such
as communication, ethical decision-making, leadership, and digital literacy.
Regular feedback from students, alumni, faculty, and academic experts will ensure
that the curriculum remains dynamic, inclusive, and responsive to evolving academic and
industry needs. The updated syllabus outlines clear pathways for diverse career opportunities
in education, civil services, archival management, journalism, research, museum and heritage
management, and beyond.
This renewed focus on History education will empower students not only to
understand the complexities of the past but also to engage actively and responsibly with the
present and the future.
