Environmental sustainability means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the
ability of future generations to meet their own needs, essentially balancing economic growth
with environmental protection. It aims to balance ecological, economic and social goals, such as
reducing carbon emissions, promoting renewable energy and ensuring equitable resource access.
Environmental sustainability is important to preserve resources like clean air, water and wildlife
for future generations.
Another important sustainability definition that Weinstein likes is: “Ensuring that human
society operates with ecological borders.”

Art Integrated Learning is a teaching -learning model in which learners explore creatively
while building connections between different concepts through various art forms.
Instead of treating art and science as separate subjects, an art integrated project uses art as
a tool to enhance learning and understanding of scientific concepts. Art integration can
promote creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, as well as make learning more
engaging and enjoyable.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Sketch simple Bamboo or Cane designs as these are commonly used in Arunachal Pradesh for
Handicrafts. Use these designs as borders or cover page”.
6. Your name, class and section must be mentioned clearly on the project.

Water sources in some parts of Arunachal Pradesh are increasingly affected by chemical
contaminants such as Fluoride (F⁻), Iron (Fe²⁺) and arsenic (As³⁺), Nitrates from chemical
fertilizers. Excess Fluoride in Water Can cause fluorosis (dental and skeletal). Nitrate
Contamination: Excess nitrates (NO₃⁻) in drinking water can cause blue baby syndrome in
infants
Causes:
• Use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture (especially in river valleys)
• Leaching of minerals from rocks (natural geochemical processes)
• Improper disposal of chemicals or household waste into rivers
• Mining activity in certain regions
Impact on Environment & Health:
• Affects potable water for humans and animals
• Leads to bioaccumulation in the food chain
• Alters soil and aquatic pH, disrupting ecosystems
Possible Chemistry-Based Solutions:
• Encourage use of organic fertilizers to reduce nitrate runoff
• Planting moringa seeds (which contain natural coagulants) for water purification – ties in
well with local flora. Moringa seeds are available and cultivated in Arunachal Pradesh. The
state’s favorable tropical and subtropical climate, along with suitable soil conditions, make it
conducive for Moringa (Drumstick) cultivation. Arunachal Pradesh’s climate supports Moringa
growth, as the plant thrives in tropical and subtropical regions.
4
How can natural coagulants (like Moringa seeds) be used for water purification in the
1. region?
Which chemicals are responsible for soil pollution in the region due to industrial activities?
2.
How do chemical pesticides and fertilizers impact soil health in Arunachal Pradesh?
3.
Create a model or infographic showing the chemical composition of polluted vs. clean
4. water.
What are the environmental impacts of excessive use of electrical energy, and how can the
5. principle of energy conservation help reduce these effects in Arunanchal Pradesh?
Explain how can the principles of energy conservation be applied to improve the efficiency of
6. small hydropower projects in Arunanchal
Explain how Newton’s laws of motion are relevant in designing vehicles or systems for
7. transportation in hilly area like Arunanchal Pradesh while maintaining low carbon Emissions.
How can the concept of wave energy be explored in river systems of Arunanchal Pradesh for
8. sustainable electricity generation?
Research and explain how does climate change influence the biogeographical
9. distribution and adaptive traits of flora and fauna across different taxonomic groups.
