government hospital. My dear audience, when there was a doctors strike,
many lives were lost, young children anguishing in pain yet they had money.
This was immoral, how could we loss money and lives at the same time? So I
took it upon myself to open a sub branch of Changamwe government
hospital, inside Changamwe government hospital. To cut my introduction
shot, I am doctor Kalmueni Wanjira and this is my EPISODE.

Unlike any other jovial days of birth, I was born but very terribly. I was told
on that day when I was born instead or crying I laughed ….and this confused
so many people in Changamwe government hospital. My father was a very
old man who believed in the power of having so many children. I was the last
born in the family of twelve members. I was the only man In that particular
family. All my elder sisters already had there family In the same village,
which made my father very proud. Unfortunately when I came out my father
quickly named me Kalmueni, which meant great love that I would bring to
the family and the entire village. My audience my father had already divided
his land into tiny pieces ready to sell to “ wenye pesa” at a very fair and
favorable price, so that he would rush to his normal destination, Muratina
deport. My father used to take Muratina early for breakfast, for lunch and
also supper, in general, Muratina was his daily bread.

Ladies and gentlemen , since my mother had no voice in that family my

father was the final say so it took upon my father to take care of me. When I
was twelve years old my father having some little knowledge about school
for the boy child I was admitted for grade one at Changamwe primary.
Keeping the words of my dad who used to tell me to study hard so that I can
have a PHD eventh’o he didn’t know what was a PHD, I studied hard and as
time goes by I did my KENYA JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL EXAMS. If you
think that I was foolish enough to pass …you are right, I not only passed in
flying colours but blue decided to walk, red was running while indigo and
pink decided to swim. I passed with 350 marks and I knew that I would
definitely join the Changamwe Day and Boarding National School.

On admission day, some students were sad since they were not going to see
there parents forever, Omera for three months only. While some students
face were shining bright with happiness because they were finally alone and
could now concentrate on their studies, I Kalmweni Wanjira was not left out,
my face was shinning but not with happiness but with Vaseline.

School was good and while in form two I joined bad companies in the school
in taking drugs, stealing and running away as fast and far as possible without
being noticed. Since my father was an old man greed of muratina and being
my role model I decided to follow his steps of drinking muratina. I remember
that fateful Friday evening when I led my group mate to snick out of school.
We went as far as our feet cold take us just in search of Muratina and drugs .
ladies and gentlemen, I can’t remember what happened that day, all I
remember was finding myself with other three friends of mine at the police
station with our parents, principal and deputy principal looking at us. (sad
song).

My dear people, this was a shame to the entire public and the school. We
decided to change our habits and we also joined the drama club so that we
can sensitize people on choosing a role model and the effect of drugs on
young people. This went on and as time goes by Changamwe day and
boarding national school had just received a sponsor who was willing to
educate any child from the school who would be the best Narrator. Although
my father did not like the idea of me joining the drama club, all the teachers
and school mates including my mother insisted that I must be in the drama
club. I had become famous because of taking the school up to the National
level. I was the best and perfect narrator. I received scholarship and went
for my further studies abroad. Folks in my entire village were happy
including my mother. People sang as they celebrate my victory in the village.
(song)

Behold comrades and problem solver, as I narrate now I have completed my

P.H.D. I graduated as a Doctor in medical field. During my celebration in
Changamwe village, I advised all careless and irresponsible parents like my
father to be focused and stop drinking irresponsibly. More so I advised them
to continue encouraging their children with talents as they educate them for
better and prosperous future.

That is THE EPISODE of my life ....
