CENTRAL UNIVERSITY OF KASHMIR
Central University of Kashmir was established in the year 2009 by an act of Parliament for teaching, research and
extension activities. Commencing its academic activities from Srinagar in its initial days, the university now operates
from four makeshift campuses in District Ganderbal, located at a distance of 35 Kilometers from Srinagar.
Adhering to smart campus features with self-sufficiency in energy and water resources, CUKashmir is in the process
of developing full-fledged campus at Tulmulla where 503 Acres of land have been acquired for the purpose. The
university plans to build a sustainable Net-Zero campus by adopting green technologies for creating highly motivating
and inspiring environment. Based on its vision, CUKashmir is envisaged to be a model university for local universities
in the region.
Since its inception, CUKashmir has been committed to the cause of access, equity and quality in higher education. It is
in pursuance to this cause that the university, through 9 schools of study and its 21 teaching departments, presently
offers forty-nine (49) programs including (16) Ph.D programs. As on date there are around 3000 students enrolled for
different programs of study at CUKashmir. The university over the years has become a preferred destination for seeking
quality higher education in the region. Given its commitment to the quality education, the CUKashmir, attracts students from
several states across the country including: Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand,
Kerala, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Vision
To be a world class institution for creation and dissemination of knowledge; to
nurture thoughtful, creative, perspicacious and humane citizens who can shape
the destiny of the society and promote global understanding.

Mission
To contribute to the educational, cultural, economic and social advancement of people
by offering high quality educational programmes leading to Bachelors, Masters,
Professional and Doctoral Degrees as well as to address the cultural, economic,
educational, environmental, health and social needs of the region and nation at large.
