INTERVENTION CHART

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in children is a developmental condition that affects

how a child communicates, interacts socially, and processes information. Children with
ASD may experience challenges such as limited verbal communication, repetitive
behaviors, sensitivity to sensory input, and difficulty in forming relationships. The
interventions below are tailored to help the child improve their ability to function
effectively in daily life, particularly in school and social situations.

The following is an example profile to explain the intervention activities needed by the
client.

Intervention Chart for Autism Spectrum Disorder

Example Profile of the Client:

Name: (Confidential)
Age: 6 years old
Gender: Male
School: Currently enrolled in a private school (inclusive education program)
Diagnosis: Mild to moderate Autism Spectrum Disorder

Target Goals of the Intervention Chart:

• Improve classroom participation

• Enhance communication with peers and adults
• Reduce sensory-related behaviors
• Increase independence in classroom routines
• Encourage emotional regulation and social interaction

Interests/Preferences of the Client:

• Loves watching animated videos (especially about numbers and animals)

• Enjoys stacking blocks and playing puzzle games
• Likes soft textures and weighted blankets
• Has difficulty with loud sounds and crowded environments
• Struggles with making eye contact or starting conversations

Daily Practices to Do:

• Use of visual schedules and picture cards to guide daily activities

• Consistent morning and bedtime routines (promotes predictability and
reduces anxiety)
• Limit screen time and encourage interactive play (e.g., pretend play, building
blocks)

3
• Teach social phrases through modeling and role-playing (e.g., “Can I play with
you?”)
• Provide sensory breaks throughout the day (quiet corner, weighted lap pad,
etc.)
• Parents and teachers should use positive reinforcement like praising desired
behaviors
• Encourage eye contact and turn-taking through simple games like rolling a ball
back and forth

Other Interventions Recommended by Professionals:

• Speech and Language Therapy – to support language development and

communication skills
• Occupational Therapy – to help with sensory integration, fine motor skills, and
daily tasks
• Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) – for behavior modification and learning new
skills
• Social Skills Training – to practice peer interaction in small, guided groups
• Parent Training Programs – to equip caregivers with strategies to support their
child
• Sensory Integration Therapy – for managing overstimulation or sensory-seeking
behaviors
• Referral to Developmental Pediatrician or Psychologist – for ongoing monitoring
and adjustment of interventions
