APPLIED CHEMISTRY

Course Objectives:
1.To Explain the importance and usage of water as basic material in almost all the industries;
interpret drawbacks of steam boilers and also how potable water is supplied for drinking purposes.
2.To gain the knowledge on Polymer based materials in household appliances, automotive
industries and preparation, moulding methods.
3.To analyze the applications of liquid crystals and conducting polymers and to Understand
various synthetic methods of nonmaterials, carbon fiber for modern advances of engineering
technology.
4.To learn the basic principles and applications of Electrochemistry and to understand the
mechanism of corrosion and how factors effect on rate of corrosion.
5.To Design models for energy by different natural sources.
COURSE OUTCOMES: At the end of this unit, the students will be able to;

OBJECTIVES:
1.To furnish the students with a solid foundation in Chemistry Laboratory required to solve the
Engineering problems.
2. To expose the students in practical aspects of the theoretical concepts like pH, hardness of water
etc.
3. To guide the students on how to handle the instruments like UV-visible spectrophotometer,
potentiometer and conductometer.
