1. What is Windows XP?  Windows XP is the seventh major release of Microsoft’s Windows
operating system.
 A stable and reliable operating system.
 It was released on 22 October 2009
 It was the most popular Windows until Windows 10 was released in
July 2015.
 Faster boot times, improved memory management.
 Compatible with a wide range of hardware, including older systems.
 Increased security, improved Start menu, redesigned taskbar,
improved window management.
 It also includes Internet Explorer 8, Windows Media player 12,
BitLocker encryption, AppLocker, and Windows Firewall.

3. You may need to install  You purchase a new computer without an operating system.
Windows XP if:-  You are going to upgrade from Windows 98, ME, 2000 to XP.
 You replaced your hard disk drive with a new one that does not have
Windows XP Installed.
 You are reinstalling Windows XP on a computer to clean off your hard
drive and remove any unwanted programs
4. Windows XP Pre-Installation  You have the Windows XP bootable CD, DVD and Bootable USB.
Checklist  You have the product key available.
 Your computer hardware is set up.
 You have Windows XP drivers available.
 If you reinstall Windows XP on an existing computer, you need a
backup copy of your files and settings.

Installation Process
6. Windows XP Installation 1) Power On the Computer.
process 2) Insert bootable Windows XP CD, DVD in CD/ DVD Drive or Bootable
USB.
3) Restart the Computer.
4) Press F12 as the computer restarts again and get the boot option
menu.
5) Select CD/ DVD and press Enter. (If you are installing Windows XP
from USB then you will see the USB Option.)
6) Press the spacebar or Enter key as you see “Press any key to boot
from CD”.
7) Press the Enter key to continue setup.
8) Next on the Licensing Agreement Page, Press F* as shown.
9) Windows XP setup will display the next windows.
10)In this step, you have to take a decision according to your hard disk
space and partitions.
11)If you want to Delete the partition then press D OR if you want to
Create the partition then press the C.
12)Press Enter to continue the Windows XP setup.
13)On the format section of the Windows XP setup. Choose the quick
format.
Note:- if the partition is 40 GB then choose FAT (File Allocation Table)
for formatting the partition and Computer will start formatiing the
partition.

14)After formatting then the computer will copy the necessary files from
CD/ DVD to hard disk.
15)Press the Enter key on the Regional and Language Options page.
16)On the next page type your name and organization name . you can
type anything in the organization name text box.
17)On the next page if the setup asks to enter the product key, then
Enter it carefully from the CD Cover.
18)Press the Enter keys several times until you will get the display
setting dialogue box.
19)During this, your computer will reboot.
20)Click on the OK
21)Follow the instructions and get the Desktop.
22)Congratulation you have install the Windows XP.
