Lesson Objectives
Students will:
Understand and use prepositions of place and time in context
Listen and respond to a story about imagination and happiness
Answer and ask simple personal questions confidently
Expand their vocabulary through regular dictation and spelling practice

Lesson Stages
1. Homework & Dictation Review
Time: 20 mins
Objective: Review past learning and reinforce vocabulary and spelling
Teacher Actions:
Check homework books for completion
Read out last week's dictation words
2. Introduce New Dictation Words
Time: 5 mins
Words: boring, both, bottle, bottom, bowl, brave, break, brilliant
How to Introduce:
Show or mime each word as a small guessing game:
“Hmm… this one holds soup. Can you guess? It starts with a buh sound…” (bowl)
Student Task:
Students find the words in their wordlist and mark/highlight them.
3. Warm-Up Game: Simon Says with Prepositions of Place
Time: 10 mins
Purpose: Activate previous knowledge playfully
How to Introduce:
“Let’s move our bodies and listen carefully! Simon says…”
Use classroom props and actions:
“Simon says: put your pencil under your chair.”
“Simon says: stand next to your friend.”
Encourage laughter and movement, reinforce meaning non-verbally. Don’t stop to explain too much—let
them feel the meaning through action.
4. Reading & Listening – Daisy’s Tiger Dream
Time: 60 mins
Theme: Dreams and Happiness
4.1 Introduce the Story (10 mins)
Ask engaging, open-ended questions:
“What do you dream about?”
“Have you ever dreamed about an animal?”
“What makes you feel very, very happy?”
Use visuals: Show tiger pictures or jungle scenes. Activate imagination.
4.2 Listen and Follow (15 mins)
Play the audio of the story.
Encourage students to follow silently in their books—don't interrupt too much.
Play it again—this time, ask them to whisper the words they recognize.
4.3 Comprehension & Discussion (15 mins)
Ask:
What happened in Daisy’s dream?
What did the tiger do?
How did she feel?
Use yes/no and open-ended questions. Let them answer in short, safe phrases.
4.4 Creative Task (15 mins)
Students draw their own “happy dream”
Write 2–3 simple sentences
o “In my dream, I saw…”
o “I feel happy when I…”
4.5 Sharing (5 mins)
Invite 2–3 students to show their picture and read one sentence.
Applaud each one! Promote confidence and connection.
5. Grammar Focus – Prepositions of Time
Time: 30 mins
Target Language: at, on, in, before, after
Goal: Students begin to notice and use prepositions naturally
How to Introduce Gently (Language Acquisition Approach)
1. Context First (5 mins):
Ask:
“What time do you wake up?”
“When is your birthday?”
“What do you do after school?”
Let students answer freely and casually. Write their own answers on the board.
2. Guided Highlighting (5 mins):
Now go back to the board and circle prepositions in student answers.
Say: “Look! You already used these magic words!”
Write:

before school
3. Student Grammar Note (10 mins)
Students copy the following into their notebooks:

4. Board Worksheet (10 mins)
Write this on the board. Students copy and complete.
Fill in the blanks with: in, on, at, after, before
1. I go to school ______ 7:30.

3. We play football ______ Saturday.
4. I brush my teeth ______ breakfast.
5. I do homework ______ dinner.

Give necessary instructions and play the tracks for students to complete the activities
7. Speaking Game – Pass the Ball: Personal Questions
Time: 20 mins
Purpose: Fluency + Personal language practice
Instructions:
Play music. When it stops, the student with the ball answers a question:
“What do you do on Saturday?”
“Where is your bag at home?”
“What do you do after dinner?”
“What’s under your bed?”
Level Up: Second round—students pass the ball and ask each other a question!
8. Closure & Homework
Time: 5 mins
Wrap-up
“What did you enjoy today?”
“What new words did you learn?”

Write 5 sentences:
3 using prepositions of place (under, in, on, behind…)
