PROCESSING
Processing Guideline – Cross linking Products (Sioplas)
1) Extruder :
● Extruder L/D ratio :- 24:1 – 26:1
GUIDELINES
● Screw Compression ratio :- 2:1 or 3:1
● Die Design :- Tube on die design preferred .
● DDR :- up to 3:1 , preferred 2:1
● Screw Mesh :- 40/60/40
2) Start - up :
● Ensure that the screw, barrel and tools are thoroughly cleaned.
● It is important that extruder should not be kept idle for more that 15 minutes when filled with premix compound.
If needed purge with normal LDPE(preferable) or Grafted PE(without catalyst)
● Observe the flow of the materials. If not satisfactory adjust the temperature settings (as per temp. Sheet) ±10°C on
the extruder
● Connect/insert the conductor in die and mix catalyst MB to the Graft materials.
● Start the screw and after adjusting the eccentricity start production at slow speed.
● Increase the speed intermittently till the desired speed is reached
● Do not leave the melt in the extruder for more than 20 minutes.
3) Handling of Materials :
● It is recommended to dry the Catalyst Master Batch/black CMB/ black MB and Colour Master Batch based on
polyolefin’s at 90 C for half an hour (refer point.07 below) in an air circulated oven in 4 – 6 cm layers.
● The Grafted Polymer should never be pre-heated.
● For LV & MV application :- The Grafted Polymer and Catalyst Master batch should be mixed at a ratio of 95:5 at
room Temperature without shearing, just before consumption. Mixing in large quantities should be avoided, since
such leftover premix cannot be stored.
● For ABC application: - The Grafted Polymer and black catalyst master batch should be mixed at a ratio of 93:7 at
room Temperature without shearing, just before consumption. Mixing in large quantities should be avoided, since
such leftover premix cannot be stored.
● Make sure that the "Aluminum Liner packing" is intact and not compressed/damaged.

conditions. Optimum results are normally achieved at a melt temperature of approximately 1300C It is recommended to for PRE-DRY the material at 65-70ºC for 2 hours in a dehumidifying dryer and mixer.
For the very best result it is recommended to use a fines remover installed immediately before the extruder

Packaging:
KLJ-PE granules are packed in 25 kg bags and 550 kg Octabin, which are protected from moisture ingress.
Safety:
KLJ-PE are not classified as dangerous preparation.
The products are supplied in the form of free-flowing granules of approx. 2-3 mm size and can be readily handled with
commercially available equipment. Handling and transport of the products may generate some dust and fines, which
constitute a potential hazard for dust explosion. All metal parts in the system should, therefore, be properly grounded.
Properly designed equipment and good housekeeping will reduce the risk.
Inhalation of any type of dust should be avoided as it may cause irritation of the respiratory system.
