Minimum Qualification- Industrial Training Institute (ITI) pass from a recognized Institute in respective trade. (For example: Mate (Electician) should be in possession of ITI Certificate in Electric/Wireman/Lineman trades, similarly Mate (FGM) shall possess certificate in Mechanic discipline, etc.) 6. Written Test: - Written Test will be conducted for above posts. There shall be one paper comprising two parts Part-I : Objective type and Part-II : Descriptive type of 90 minutes duration each. Place / Venue and date and time of Written Test will be intimated later. Indicative Syllabus for these posts is as under:(a) General English: In addition to the testing of candidates understanding of the English language and its correct usage, their writing ability would also betested. Questions on Paragraph Writing, Writing of Letter, Writings etc may be included. (b) General Studies: Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates general awareness of the environment around him/her and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include question relating to India and its neighboring countries specially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity including the onstitution of India, scientific research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline. (c) Arithmetic: Questions in this component will cover number system including questions on simplification, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Average, Profit and Loss, Discount, Simple and Compound interest, Mensuration, Time and Work, Ratio and Time, Time and Distance, Tables and Graphs etc. (d) General questions pertaining to ITI.

7. Departmental Candidates: - Candidates serving in the MES shall apply directly indicating their official address. There is no need to send the application through proper channel. Candidates serving in other departments shall follow the standard Government / their department order. 8. Centre of Examination:- Written examination will be conducted at Udhampur, Akhnoor and Rajouri. First and second choice of Centres given by Candidates shall not be binding on the department and this could be changed without notice. 9. Place of Posting:- Selected candidates will generally be posted in J&K area under Jurisdiction of Chief Engineer Udhampur Zone. Selected candidates may also be posted anywhere in India. 10. Medical fitness & Citizenship:- Candidates must be physically and mentally fit for duty anywhere in India, in any climate and terrain. Candidates should be citizen of India. 11. Application form:- The application in the given format on A-4 size paper (210mmx297mm) typed neatly in English duly filled in should be sent to MILITARY ENGINEERING SERVICES, HEADQUARTERS CHIEF ENGINEER UDHAMPUR ZONE, OPPOSITE CHOPRA SHOP, UDHAMPUR-182121 (J&K).
