METHODIST YOUTH FELLOWSHIP OF DAWHENYA-AFIANYA CIRCUIT
2ND BIENNIAL DELEGATES CONFERENCE – ADDRESS BY BRO. BRIGHT OFFEI ESSAH
(CIRCUIT CHAIRMAN)

Mr. Chairman, esteemed Superintendent Minister, honored Ministers, Lay Movement Council Chairman,
Diocesan Officers, past officers, Sister Organizations, delegates, and brothers and sisters, WE…ONE

I bring you warm greetings from the Circuit Secretariat on this occasion of our 2nd Biennial Conference.
Today, we gather under the theme "Discipleship: Growing Into Christian Maturity." As leaders of today
and tomorrow, it's essential to recognize our role in shaping the world around us, particularly within our
noble circuit.

Your Purpose
We are called to make a difference in the world, rooted in our faith and identity in Christ. As we navigate
life's complexities, let's stay grounded in the things of God, reflecting His love and light to a world in need.

Commitment to the Things of God

Our commitment to our faith sets us apart. Prioritizing our relationship with God through prayer, Bible
study, and fellowship will help us grow in our faith, becoming beacons of hope in a world that desperately
needs it.

Growing into Christian Maturity

Our theme is timely, and Ephesians 4:14-15 reminds us to live according to Christ's statutes, rather than
following doctrines that don't reflect His nature.

Economic Strive
As we pursue our passions and interests, we'll face economic challenges. However, these challenges can be
opportunities for growth and innovation. Our economic strive is not just about personal gain; it's about
using our skills and resources to positively impact our community and beyond.

Your Role in Shaping the Youth Fellowship

You have a unique perspective, talent, and gift that can transform the world around you. Don't be afraid to
take risks, challenge the status quo, and push boundaries. Your generation has the power to shape the
narrative, drive change, and create a brighter future.
Challenges and Opportunities
You'll face challenges, but don't let them discourage you. Instead, see them as opportunities to learn, grow,
and become more like Christ. The world needs your passion, creativity, and commitment to making a
difference.

Call to Action
What will you do with the platform you've been given? How will you use your skills, resources, and
influence to make a positive impact? I encourage you to take ownership of your purpose, deepen your
commitment to your faith, and strive for economic excellence.

Conclusion
In closing, I'd like to leave you with a quote from Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you,”
declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” You
have a bright future ahead of you, filled with purpose, promise, and possibility. Go out there and make a
difference!
METHODIST YOUTH FELLOWSHIP OF DAWHENYA-AFIANYA CIRCUIT
2ND BIENNIAL DELEGATES CONFERENCE – KEYNOTE ADDRESS BY BRO. NICHOLAS
NELSON TAWIAH (CIRCUIT YOUTH ORGANISER)

Dear beloved members of the Circuit Methodist Youth Fellowship,

As we gather for this significant moment – the 2nd Biennial Conference – I extend warm greetings and heartfelt
well-wishes to every one of you!
Our theme, "Discipleship: Growing into Christian Maturity," resonates deeply with the Apostle Paul's exhortation
in Ephesians 4:14-15, where he writes, "Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves,
and blown here and there by every wind of teaching... Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to
become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ."
As we convene to explore, learn, and grow together in our understanding of discipleship and Christian maturity, I
pray that the Holy Spirit will guide, empower, and transform us.
May this conference be a catalyst for spiritual growth, a moment of deepened commitment to Christ, and a
celebration of the incredible diversity and gifts within our fellowship.
I commend you all for your dedication to Christ and the Methodist Youth Fellowship. May your time together be
marked by joy, laughter, and meaningful connections.
May God bless, guide, and prosper you as you gather, and may you be a blessing to one another, to your
Societies, Circuit and the world!
With love, prayers, and best wishes,
Nicholas Nelson Tawiah

deepen your faith, broaden your perspectives, and strengthen your resolve to serve the Lord and His people as
matured believer, and not an infant.
I pray that the bonds of unity, love, and solidarity that bind you together as a fellowship will be strengthened, and
that you will return to your respective societies and communities refreshed, renewed, and ready to make a
positive impact for Christ.
Remember that you are the future leaders and change-makers in the Methodist Church, and that the world is
waiting for your unique gifts, talents, and perspectives to come to bear on your faith life.
May God bless and enrich your conference, and may you be a blessing to one another and to the world around
you!

With prayers and best wishes,"

METHODIST YOUTH FELLOWSHIP OF DAWHENYA-AFIANYA CIRCUIT
2ND BIENNIAL DELEGATES CONFERENCE – ADDRESS BY SIS. EMELIA ESI COPSON
(CIRCUIT STEWARD)

To God be the Glory for yet another year of Accountability and Learning. I call it a year of accountability and
learning because two years ago we met here as the young people of Dawhenya- Afienya Circuit and the
Methodist Church as a whole. I believe what we came to learn has had a positive impact and we are here today to
share our rich experiences with our fellow brothers and sisters as we share fellowship and also learn new things
this year.
As young people of the Church, you are expected to exhibit strength and commitment to the work of God. The
bible says in Ecclesiatics 12:1 ‘Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come
not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say; I have no pleasure in them’. I pray for you that you learn the
example of Timothy as you diligently work to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and also uplift the image of the
church. As Paul exhorted Timothy to show thyself approved and not be ashamed of dividing the word of truth, so
I urge you to show yourselves approved.
On behalf of the Circuit Executives and on my own behalf, I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes for a
successful and fruitful biennial conference. May this gathering inspire collaboration and lead to impactful
outcomes. May the Holy Spirit empower you to do exploit after this conference to the glory of God.
GOD RICHLY BLESS YOU ALL.
METHODIST YOUTH FELLOWSHIP OF DAWHENYA-AFIANYA CIRCUIT
2ND BIENNIAL DELEGATES CONFERENCE – ADDRESS BY BRO.BEN DARKO (DIOCESAN
MYF CHIARMAN)

Mr. Chairman, the superintendent minister, ministers present, lay movement council chairman, past officers,
sister organizations present, delegates, all protocols duly acknowledged, brothers and sisters, We….

I bring you warm greetings on behalf of the diocesan secretariat on the occasion of your 3rd Biennial
delegates conference. We are grateful to the almighty God for keeping the fellowship and the members for
another two years. We are gathered here today to take stock and assess the work of the fellowship for the
period under review. This is another opportunity to look at the way forward for the fellowship in the ensuing
years. We should therefore be guided and circumspect in our deliberations throughout the conference.

Mr. Chairman, fellow lads and lasses, we, let me take this opportunity to thank the circuit chairman and all
members of the circuit for their cooperation and support to the diocese. We are grateful. God bless you all.

CHURCH THEME AND STRATEGIC PLAN.

The church’s theme for the year is ‘Discipleship, growing into Christian maturity’. Brothers and sisters,
growth is one thing every Christian should desire in his/her Christian journey. As young people let us desire
to grow into His likeness. For us to grow into maturity;

We should renounce every hidden shameful life that impedes our growth. 2Corinthians 4 vs 2. We must be
fully awake and take up the charge to grow. We must be intentional about growing as young believers.

We must put on the full armour of God.

Let us be reminded that, growth comes with challenges and we must therefore be determined to deal with
them when they come our way.

I want to charge every member of the fellowship to be well equipped with the new wind blowing in the
church now, the 7-year strategic plan. Let us own the strategic plan and work with it in our various societies
and everywhere we find ourselves in the church.

Brothers and Sisters, conferences are periods where action oriented and strategic decisions are taken. I want
to encourage every delegate to help brainstorm and make strategic decisions that will affect the growth of the
fellowship and members, not business as usual.

MYF BUSINESS
Mr. Chairman, one of the objectives in the strategic plan is ‘To develop Innovative approaches/ alternative
sources for financial resource mobilization and management’(Strategic Objective 12). As part of the
fellowship’s efforts to help achieve this goal, we resolved at one of our Diocesan Executive Council
meetings to embark on a unisex saloon in the Spintex and Lashibi environs. We therefore want to appeal to
all circuits to use their conferences to communicate to members and individuals who want to partner with
the fellowship to contact the diocesan secretariat for further discussion.

MYF DATABASE
Mr. Chairman, it is sad to know that the connexional MYF has developed an app for members data
collection in order to help in decision but some circuits are not making any effort to ensure members are
registered. This is not a growth mindset, therefore I want to charge every circuit to make a conscious effort
to speed up members registration unto the database.

ELECTIONS.
Brothers and Sisters, as you elect new officers to take over the mantle of leadership for the circuit, let us be
led by the Holy Spirit to choose leaders who are committed and ready to serve the fellowship.

Let us not vote based on friendship and certain alliances with some people but rather elect people who are
capable, committed, inspirational, courageous, have strong moral principles and are trustworthy.
Mr. Chairman, the diocese will also have an election during its conference. I therefore want to ask the
circuits to nominate capable lads and lasses for the various diocesan portfolios. May the Lord grant faithful
servants ready to take up the torch of leadership in the fellowship.

CONCLUSION.

Mr. Chairman, as I end my message, I wish to charge all members and officers to remember our first love
which is enshrined in our motto: WE WORK, WE WITNESS, WE WORSHIP!
Let us go to work, witness and worship as being our core mandate as members of our beloved fellowship.
I wish you all a fruitful conference deliberation. Thank you. We!. One!

BRO. BEN DARKO DIOCESAN MYF

CHAIRMAN.
METHODIST YOUTH FELLOWSHIP OF DAWHENYA-AFIANYA CIRCUIT
2ND BIENNIAL DELEGATES CONFERENCE – ADDRESS BY REV.RAYMOND AFUTU
NARTEY (DIOCESAN YOUTH ORGANISER)

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

It is with great joy and gratitude that I extend my heartfelt goodwill to all participants of the Methodist
Youth Fellowship (MYF) Conference 2025, gathered under the theme: "Discipleship: Growing into
Christian Maturity," inspired by Ephesians 4:14-15.

"Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every
wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking
the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is,
Christ." (Ephesians 4:14-15)

This theme is both timely and essential, as it calls every young believer to a deeper commitment to Christ, a
journey of spiritual growth, steadfastness, and transformation. True discipleship is not merely about
acquiring knowledge of the Word but about living it daily. It is about reflecting Christ’s love, wisdom, and
character in every aspect of our lives.

As you engage in this conference, may the Holy Spirit inspire you to pursue maturity in faith, stand firm
against the shifting tides of worldly influence, and embrace the truth of God’s Word with boldness and love.
May you be equipped,

strengthened, and encouraged to walk as true disciples, shining as lights in your generation to affect the
growth of the fellowship.

To be impactful in this dispensation, we must shift from mere complaints and lamentations to taking action,
speaking with authority, and celebrating success. Instead of complaining, let us offer constructive feedback
and propose solutions for growth and improvement of the church.

I urge you all to recognize the significance of the time and season in which we find ourselves, bearing in
mind Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 and Ecclesiastes 12:1. The first passage reminds us of life’s changing seasons and
the inevitability of different experiences, while the second calls us to honour and acknowledge God early in
life. The phrase “Remember your Creator” is more than a mental acknowledgment, it is a call to prioritize
God in our thoughts, actions, and decisions while we are young. Youth is a season of energy, vitality, and
fewer burdens, making it the perfect time to cultivate spiritual habits that will establish a firm foundation of
faith, sustaining us through life’s challenges.
In conclusion, as young people, we must live beyond success and strive for significance, impacting
generations to come. Let us therefore cultivate a passion for the work of God and dedicate ourselves to His
purpose as we continue to Aspire to Inspire before we Expire.
May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. I therefore on behalf of the Youth Development Ministry
(YDM), wish you a fruitful and spirit-filled conference to the glory of God. Amen.
METHODIST YOUTH FELLOWSHIP OF DAWHENYA-AFIANYA CIRCUIT
2ND BIENNIAL DELEGATES CONFERENCE – KEYNOTE ADDRESS BY THE VERY
REV.ISAAC WILLIAM AKYEREFI-MENSAH (SUPERINDENTENT MINISTER)

Preamble
Mr. Chairman, Colleague Minister present, the Circuit Steward Sis. Emelia Esi Copson, Lay Movement Council
Chairman of the Circuit, Bro. Ruben K Nartey, CYO, Bro. Nicholas Nelson Tewiah, the Circuit MYF executive
members, and all the delegates present. It is my honor and great privilege to deliver the keynote address to the
Circuit MYF on the occasion of their 2 nd Biennial conference. I wish to congratulate you for how you have
managed your affairs as young people since you were carved out from Prampram Ningo Circuit some five 5
years ago. The term of office of the current executive is about to end, paving the way for fresh nominations and
elections to take place at this conference. I want to challenge you to observe every aspect of your deliberations at
this conference with solemnity, especially during the election of new executives, to forestall unnecessary rancor
and misunderstanding that can plague the unity you have enjoyed since you became autonomous. Let us allow
the spirit of Christ to rule and lead his church. Amen!

Celebrate What You Have Become – Five (5) Years of Service

Saint Augustine of Hippo is quoted as encouraging the Roman Catholics to “Celebrate what they have become
and become what they celebrate.” 5 years in the life of Methodist Youth Fellowship in the Circuit is no mean
achievement. It is a significant milestone to allow us to reflect on the past, celebrate achievements, and look
toward and strategize for the future. In other words, what have we achieved so far? However, we cannot do
sincere reflection in a vacuum. We must always be willing to refer to what the church expects of us as provided
by the Constitution of the Methodist Church Ghana to situate all our works and efforts and allow ourselves to be
molded and modeled by it. According to S.O 344, titled “The Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) stipulates five
main aims members of the MYF are expected to reflect and work around them to achieve Christian growth and
spiritual maturity.
The Methodist Youth Fellowship aims to:
a. Provide a means of fellowship with The Methodist Church Ghana that is suitable for the needs of young
people.
b. Help young people to come to a personal faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and provide opportunities to
study, discuss, and pray about their growing faith in Him.
c. Deepen members’ understanding of the Christian faith and its application to personal, social, and
economic life.
d. Encourage members to render practical services for and on behalf of The Methodist Church Ghana
e. Help young people appreciate the Church’s unity in its diversity and promote the sense of belonging to a
Christian World.
In our reflections, we must ask ourselves which of these constitutional provisions we are keenly interested in and
working toward its achievements. Or do we have our own ideas and agendas we pursue at our meetings and
fellowship?

Our Unique Identity – We Worship, We Work, We Witness

Identity is crucial to everyone and every organization. It is our identity that helps us to navigate through life. It
defines and informs who we are, where we are going, and what we aspire to become. Saul asked David a crucial
identification question. “Whose son are you? David replied. “I am the son of your servant Jesse the
Bethlehemite. This question and answer unravels and highlights a moment of recognition and connection
between the two significant figures in the story – 1 Samuel 17:5. We must always look out for and familiarize
ourselves with our identity as People called Methodist and members of The Methodist Youth Fellowship so we
can make inroads to fit into the structures and systems of the Methodist Church Ghana and the entire
Christendom.

We are identified not solely by the age brackets (13-35), dresses and uniforms, and youthful exuberance but by
our motto: “We Worship, We Work, and We Witness” for the Christ of God, making us an integral part of God’s
mission to the world through Methodism. The phrase “We worship, We Work, We Witness, highlights the
interconnectedness of faith, labor, and sharing of one’s belief. It emphasizes that worship is not done in isolation
or only about attending services and conferences. It is also about how we live and share our faith through
devotion and dedication to God and humanity in words and actions.

Worship

Worship refers to expressing reverence and devotion to the Christ of God which involves attending church
services and programs, prayer, and other spiritual exercises and performance of acts of faith wherever we are
found and called to do so.

We Work

Work encompasses our daily activities, routine, and how we serve others to make a living or support a godly
course for a better society. It highlights that labor can be a form of worship when done with dedication and a
godly mindset. Remember Paul’s admonishing – “Whether you eat or drink, do all to the glory of God. For Jesus,
“Whatever you do for these little ones you have done it for me.” It is serving others, working with integrity, and
using your gifts and graces for the common good of all.

We Witness

This means sharing your faith and experiences with others so they can also come to the saving knowledge of
Jesus Christ through words and deeds to demonstrate the impact of your faith on your life. It is by sharing your
faith with others, living a life that reflects your beliefs, and speaking up for what you have believed in. You
cannot give what you do not have.

How have you known and understood your identity? How far have you manifested them visibly during Church
programs and to those we meet in life? I wish to crave your indulgence as a matter of practicality to endear
yourselves to your key identity as the spiritual outfit you wear daily for others to see the Christ of God in you.
Instead of stooping so low with your life for others to look down on you. Paul told Timothy do not allow anyone
to look down on and despise your youth but set an example for believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in spirit,
in faith, in purity” – 1 Timothy 4:12. It is suggested that Paul expected Timothy, that young Christian Leader and
Pastor to exhibit and demonstrate complete maturity in Christ through the conduct of his leadership. This
Spiritual consciousness is still relevant, and all of us are expected to grow into Christian maturity, which is
demanded by our Church’s theme: Discipleship: Growing into Christian Maturity – Ephesians 4:14-15. Let us
sing MHB 585

Discipleship: Growing into Christian Maturity

1. Christianity is a life in Christ

Christianity is a call to live like Christ. It is a life of power, love, wisdom, grace, holiness, and sincere purity. It is
a life of humility, gentleness, knowledge, and a measure of grace. It is not a life of double standards, pretenses,
cover-ups, and hypocrisy. It is not simply an added-on life but a genuine imitation of Christ. When this happens,
it means the Christian is growing into maturity. Paul defines and informs us how it is to live as a Christian and
practice our faith when he says, “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.
The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the son of God, who loved and gave himself for me. I do not set
aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing” – Galatians
2:20-21.

2. God Expects Every Christian to Grow into maturity.

Growing as a Christian is not an optional thing. God expects everyone who comes to him to grow over time.
Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and he had favor with God and men – Luke 2:52. If Jesus grew, then every
Christian like must grow. We are expected to grow in faith, understanding, holiness, and God’s power and quality
influence in society.

The Substance of our Growth. Growing into Christian maturity begins with Repentance, through faith in Jesus
Christ, to the life of holiness of heart and life – “Be holy as your father in Heaven is Holy” – Matthew 5:48. This
is the crust of our Methodist Faith. We believe God can change and turn sinners into saints and bad people into
good people. The People called Methodists believe that a Christian is someone who has encountered Jesus as the
Lord and personal savior and longs and strives to live like Jesus Christ to attain the full stature and character of
Him in every sense of the word.

3. What is Growing into Maturity?

Furthermore, growing into Christian maturity means developing a deeper, more authentic relationship with God.
It is characterized by a transformed character, increased knowledge of scriptures, and a life lived in obedience to
the teachings of Christ. It is about living out the life of the new creation found in Jesus Christ and enabled by the
Holy Spirit. It is consciously living and demonstrating the New Birth in Jesus Christ by faith and with the help of
the Holy Spirit. Paul asserts that we must live a life worthy of our calling in the Christ of God – Ephesians 4:1.
Anytime we are confronted with issues and challenges of life, we must pause and reflect by asking ourselves if it
were Christ, how would he handle it?

4. How do We Grow into Christian Maturity?

There is this Irish proverb which is quite insightful. “You’ve got to do your own growing, no matter how tall
your grandfather is.” Your parents, ministers, leaders, organizational executives, and bosom friends cannot grow
into Christian maturity on your behalf. Growth is a choice of path that you must consciously take and pursue on a
personal level within the context of Christian fellowship but not in isolation. The good news is that God has
made available everything we would need for the growth of this Christian life. So, we must all endeavor to grow
into maturity to receive wisdom and gain favor with God and humanity.

a. Face God and Remain in Him to Grow. For Oswald Chambers, the best way to grow into Christian
maturity is to always set God before you. He insists, in all your life, “It must be God first, God second,
and God third, until your life is continually come face to face with God,” the only way we can reflect the
change that comes through the knowledge and love of God in Jesus Christ. You see, when Jesus called the
twelve to always be with Him so they could learn of him and be sent on missions – Mark 3:14-15. Again,
Jesus said, without me, you cannot do anything – John 15:5
b. Observe and Practice Acts of Faith to Grow. People of God, we can grow into maturity as we strive to
increase our knowledge of God through the study of the word, engaging in constant prayer, demonstrating
our deep and profound love for God and our neighbors, and consciously practicing holiness of heart and
life in every area of our lives in the power of the Holy Spirit. I pray that you shall delight yourself in the
service of God so that he can grant your heart’s desires. I hope you have fruitful deliberations and a
refreshing conference. God bless you all.

Conclusion

Mr. Chairman, let us keep in step with the Spirit to keep and maintain our identity as members of MYF as we
seek to celebrate what we have become and become what we celebrate our 5 th anniversary and counting to reflect
on our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for future action plans and considerations. We must also
endeavor to understand who we are and readily teach and show others our identity so they can run with our
vision and mission.

We must be reminded that we ought to grow into maturity and merely in years. Apostle Peter summarizes the
above points raised in this keynote address for us. “Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be
on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position.
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and
forever! Amen! – 2 Peter 3:17-18.

And now, Mr. Chairman, eminent Reverend Ministers of the Dawhenya Afienya Circuit, the Circuit Steward, the
Lay Chairman, and all delegates of the MYF Conference by the responsibility vested in me as the Supt. Minister
of this enviable Circuit, I, the Very Rev. Isaac W. Akyerefi-Mensah, now declare that the 2 nd Biennial Conference
of the MYF Dawhenya-Afienya Circuit is duly opened in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Long live The Methodist Church Ghana!

Long live Tema Diocese!

Long live Dawhenya -Afienya Circuit MYF!

God bless us all. Amen!

GOODWIL MESSAGE FROM DAWHENYA-AFIENYA SUSANNA WESLEY MISSION AUXILIARY (SUWMA) TO THE
CIRCUIT YOUTH FELLOWSHIP ON YOUR 2nd CIRCUIT BIENNIAL DELEGATES CONFERENCE

On the occasion of your 2nd Biennial Conference, we Susanna Wesley Mission Auxiliary (SUWMA) of the
Dawhenya- Afienya Circuit extend our good wishes to all the Executives and members of the Youth Fellowship.

As you go through your deliberations during this conference, let us use the opportunity to deeply reflect on our
role in the Church – Spiritual, Moral, Social, Educational and other activities that we as a youth can offer to the
Community or Society we find ourselves in.

Considering the theme; “Discipleship: Growing Into Christian Maturity”. A Christian Discipleship is a person who
is determined to fellow Jesus Christ with the desire not to only learn from Him but grow in wisdom and stature
as Christ did. Therefore, growing into Christian maturity, we need to remove the bad habits and spend time in
prayer and worships. As youths, our focus should be on Christ and spiritual things, pursue the path of excellence
and add value not only to our personal lives but to our assigned duties in the organization and the Church as a
whole.

As Youths, let us desire to study God’s word, be prayerful and be role models to our peers. Let us continue to
fulfil our financial and other obligations to the organization and the Church at large. Let us be faithful with our
tithing, dues, offerings and all other contributions to help grow the organization and the Church.

We want to encourage you to continue to listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit in all your deliberations
throughout this conference and may we be a blessing not only to the Youth fellowship but also to the Methodist
Church.

Our prayers are with you, stay blessed

GOODWILL MESSAGE BY THE KPONE CIRCUIT M.Y.F. TO
Dear brethren in Christ, we bring you greetings from the Kpone Circuit Methodist Youth Fellowship.
Congratulations to you on your occasion of your 2nd Biennial Delegate’s Conference.
The theme for the ecclesiastical year is, ‘Discipleship: Growing into Christian Maturity.’ This is a reminder to us
all that, Christian Maturity is not a point or destination, but a journey instead. A journey geared and oriented
towards Christlikeness. This means that we have to live as Christ did. Our Christian maturity should be fixed on
the person of Jesus Christ, ‘Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw
off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And le us run with perseverance the race marked
for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.’ (Hebrews 12:1-2a)
The scripture above encourages us to let go off anything that hinders our growth as Christians. Letting go might
be challenging and difficult, but until we are able to accomplish that, then we can achieve the purpose of growth
in our life. Also, let us take hold of the grace of God, that has been made available to us, hold on to our
conviction and the Holy Spirit as the principal agent of growth.
The Holy Spirit in our journey of maturity is to teach us about Christ, transforming us to be like Him but not just
about the giftings. In view of this, let us bear each other up, especially in prayers. Let us encourage and support
ourselves as we strive to attain Christian Maturity. Let us be actively engaged in teachings and mentorship.
Moreover, let us be committed to our responsibilities as the backbone of the church and future leaders; labouring
and participating in worship and soul winning.
As I bring my message to an end, I entreat us all to ne dedicated, committed, willing to learn and also grow in
our rich Methodist heritage. Let us then be reminded of the words of Apostle Paul according to Ephesians 4:13
‘Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the
whole measure of the fullness of Christ’. Let us press towards the goal in order to win the prize for which God
gas called us in Christ Jesus.
Once more congratulations and we wish a fruitful and peaceful deliberations during your conference.
Thank You.
We! We! We!
