and anus (your perineum) and be satisfied with your birth experience PRINCESA Care
Lying in and Family Planning Clinic offers prenatal care, as well as care during and after
labor. The clinic also offers safe and effective family planning methods and vaccines for

Importance
The market for private midwives services and products is growing. It has been found in the recent
surveys that most women in the Philippines prefer going to a midwife for their reproductive
health needs. The Philippine government is moving to discourage its constituents to give birth
their homes because of the mother and the baby’s health concerns. But a lot of Filipino mothers
cannot afford to give a normal birth in private hospitals because private hospitals are too
expensive. That’s the reason why lying in clinics were introduced in the health business. Most
women prefer giving birth in lying in clinics because of its homely rather than a clinical
environment like in hospitals and giving birth in a lying in clinic is much cheaper than in a
private hospital. Nowadays, lying in clinics continues to grow in the health business because of
its growing demand.
MARKET ANALYSIS
MARKET DEFINITION and CUSTOMER PROFILE
There are thousands of midwifes working in the Philippines serving a large segment of the
population in rural and urban areas. It has been found in recent surveys that most women in the
Philippines prefer going to a midwife for their reproductive health needs. Midwifes can offer a
valuable service to their communities. The market for private lying in clinics is growing.
Midwives in private practice are filling a growing gap between government services and
expensive, higher-end private hospitals. Clients of private sector midwives are typically the lower
and lower-middle income segments of the Philippine population – those who can afford to pay for
services and products but may not be able to afford the price of a private hospital stay. In rural
areas, midwives can be a welcome alternative to the local government hospital, as they may
provide quality services that are delivered at a price that the majority can afford. Baby Care Lying
in and Family Planning Clinic will be established in a rural area, in a third class municipality
where 50% of the population belongs to the class B, C, and D segments of society.
COMPETITION
Competitors to Lying in Clinics are rural health units (RHU’s), other home-delivery
based midwives, other midwife clinics, and private doctors. While rural health units and
government hospitals offer free
products and services, the competitive advantage of private lying in clinics are the quality
of their services and facilities – at a price that is affordable. Patients often find lying in
clinics to be more comfortable than the RHU’s and feel safer in a midwife clinic than
with a home delivery. Baby Care Lying in and Family Planning Clinic has 2 major
competitors in the location – the Rural Health Unit and 1 private Lying in clinic.
However, Baby Care Lying in and Family Planning Clinic will be more competitive in
the market because of its quality services and facilities.
