Create a DICOM SR Data Template

In order for DICOM SR data to automatically populate fields in your report templates, you must first
create one or more templates for the SR data merge fields. Creating these templates makes the SR
data fields available to administrators (or providers with administrator privileges) so that they can
create AutoText that contains the SR data fields.

Requirements
• You must be an administrator for the site, or sites, sending the DICOM SR data.
• You must have the role of Attending provider for the site, or sites, sending the DICOM SR
data.

Create the SR Template

1. Log in to the PowerScribe 360 | Reporting client application.
2. Click Tools > AutoText Editor.
3. Click DICOM Merge Fields.

The DICOM Merge Field Manager window opens.

6. Enter the accession number for the DICOM procedure you would like to add to the Merge
Field library, and click OK.

Merge Message Box

If this is not the first SR template you have created, you might be presented with a dialog box
similar to the example shown below. This occurs when the procedure you are adding is in the
same study category as an existing template. In the example below, an existing template and
the one you selected are in the same study category, which is Mammography CAD Report.

The message box offers three options, explained below:

• Yes: Merges the data elements into one template. The provider would use (drag/drop) only
the elements needed according to the template or report which she is dictating.
• No: Allows you to create another SR template that is specific to the procedure listed.
• Cancel: No changes are made.
7. If you were not presented with the merge message box described above, or if you clicked No
at the message box, a dialog box similar to the following example opens.

8. Enter a name and description for the template.

9. Click OK.
10. Click OK in the DICOM SR Template Manager window to save your changes and close it.

the categories whose elements you would like to include as merge fields for the procedure. In
this example we selected Biparietal Diameter.

Create AutoText That Uses DICOM SR Data

After you have created the DICOM SR templates and specified merge fields for each template, you
can begin to build AutoText that contain the DICOM SR merge fields.
1. Click Tools > AutoText Editor. You can start a new AutoText (from the blank screen) or open
an existing AutoText to which you want to add DICOM SR merge fields.
Tip: If you are starting a new AutoText, you might want to create your headings before
inserting the merge fields.

2. Click the Merge Fields tab on the right side of the window.
Tip: If you plan to add several merge fields from different templates, click the pin icon to
keep the Merge fields tab open. Otherwise it will close when you move your mouse off of
it.

3. Click the Type drop-down list and select the merge field list from which you want to make
selections. (For example, if you are starting a new AutoText, you might begin by typing the
headings and then select General Fields to add basic patient information.)

4. Select one of the DICOM SR templates and begin adding merge fields to your AutoText. The
example below uses the OB-GYN Ultrasound DICOM SR merge fields.

Use the following steps to add the merge fields:

• Expand the categories you want to use
• Double-click or drag-and-drop the items into your AutoText. If you double-click, make
sure your cursor is positioned where you want the merge field to appear in the AutoText.
5. When finished building the AutoText, fill in the information on the left side of the AutoText
Editor window as needed.
