1. Shares and Dividends
1. A person invests ₹ 8000 in buying ₹ 100 shares at ₹ 160. If the company pays a dividend
of 20% per annum, calculate:
○ The number of shares bought.
○ The annual income from the shares.
○ The percentage return on the investment.
2. Mr. Bajaj has 500 shares of face value ₹ 100 each. The company declares a dividend of
12%. Calculate the dividend received by Mr. Bajaj. If he bought these shares at ₹ 150
each, find the percentage return on his investment.
3. By selling 200 shares of a company at a premium of ₹ 15, a person receives ₹ 11000.
Find the face value of each share.
4. A man invests ₹ 9000 in shares of face value ₹ 50 each, selling at a premium of 20%. If
he receives a dividend of ₹ 1200 at the end of the year, find the rate of dividend.
5. How much should a person invest in ₹ 75 shares available at ₹ 90 to obtain an annual
income of ₹ 900 if the dividend declared is 12%?
6. A person sells ₹ 40 shares at a discount of 10% and invests the proceeds in ₹ 100 shares
at a premium of ₹ 20. If his income from both investments is the same, find the ratio of the
number of shares sold to the number of shares bought.
7. A company declares a dividend of 15%. If a person holds 80 shares of face value ₹ 100
each and the market value of each share is ₹ 130, calculate his total dividend and the
percentage return on his investment.
2. Goods and Services Tax (GST)
1. The marked price of an article is ₹ 6000. A shopkeeper allows a discount of 5% and then
charges GST at 12%. Find the final selling price of the article.
2. A dealer buys a product for ₹ 12000 (inclusive of GST at 10%). He sells it to a consumer
for ₹ 15000 (inclusive of GST at 15%). Find the GST paid by the dealer to the
government.
3. The selling price of a washing machine inclusive of GST at 8% is ₹ 13500. Find the
original price of the washing machine before GST was added.

4. A shopkeeper purchases goods worth ₹ 5000 from a wholesaler. He sells them to a
consumer for ₹ 6500. If the rate of GST is 12%, calculate the GST payable by the
shopkeeper.
5. An article is listed at ₹ 9000. A retailer buys it at a discount of 20% from the wholesaler
and sells it to a consumer at a discount of 10% on the listed price. If the GST rate is 18%,
find the GST paid by the retailer.
6. A person buys a scooter for ₹ 45000 including GST of 12%. What was the price of the
scooter before GST?
7. The cost price of an article is ₹ 8000. A shopkeeper marks it up by 25% and then sells it
after allowing a discount of 10% on the marked price. If the GST rate is 5%, find the
amount of GST the customer has to pay.

1. Mr. Gupta opened a Recurring Deposit Account for 3 years and deposits ₹ 500 per month.
At the time of maturity, he receives ₹ 19650. Find the rate of interest per annum.
2. A person has a Recurring Deposit Account for 2 years at 9% per annum. If the maturity
value is ₹ 16640, find the monthly installment.
3. Karan deposits ₹ 250 per month in a recurring deposit account for 4 years. If the rate of
interest is 8% per annum, find the maturity value of his account.
4. What monthly installment should a person deposit in a recurring deposit account for 5
years to receive ₹ 33450 at maturity, if the rate of interest is 10% per annum?
5. A woman deposits ₹ 1200 per month in a recurring deposit account for 2 years. If she
receives ₹ 30816 at maturity, find the total interest earned.
6. A recurring deposit account of ₹ 600 per month has a maturity value of ₹ 39690 after 5
years. Find the rate of interest per annum.
7. Mohan deposits ₹ 800 every month in a cumulative deposit account for 6 years. If the rate
of interest is 6% per annum, find the maturity value.
4. Circles
1. Prove that the angle subtended by an arc at the center is double the angle subtended by
the same arc at any point on the remaining part of the circle.
2. Two circles intersect at points P and Q. A line through P meets the circles at A and B, and
a line through Q meets the circles at C and D. Prove that AC || BD.

3. A tangent PT is drawn to a circle with center O from an external point P. If angle OPT = 90
and angle TPO = 30, and the radius of the circle is 5 cm, find the length of PT.
4. A chord AB of a circle subtends an angle of 60 at the center. If the radius of the circle is

5. Triangles
1. In triangle ABC, DE is parallel to BC. If AD = 4 cm, DB = 6 cm, and AE = 5 cm, find EC.
2. The areas of two similar triangles are in the ratio 81:49. Find the ratio of their
corresponding altitudes.
3. In a right-angled triangle ABC, with angle B = 90, BD is perpendicular to AC. Prove that
triangle ABD ~ triangle CBD.
4. In the given figure, if PQ || BC, AP = 3 cm, PB = 6 cm, and AQ = 5 cm, find QC.

5. Prove that the ratio of the areas of two similar triangles is equal to the square of the ratio

6. A vertical pole of height 9 m casts a shadow 6 m long on the ground. At the same time, a

1. A bag contains 6 red balls and 4 blue balls. If two balls are drawn at random without
replacement, find the probability that both are blue.
2. Two dice are thrown simultaneously. Find the probability of getting a sum of 7.
3. A card is drawn at random from a well-shuffled deck of 52 playing cards. Find the
probability that the card drawn is a face card (King, Queen, or Jack) of hearts.
4. A bag contains 5 white, 7 red, and 8 black balls. If one ball is drawn at random, find the
probability that it is either white or black.
5. The probability of selecting a green marble at random from a jar that contains only green,
white, and yellow marbles is ⅓ . The probability of selecting a white marble at random is
½ . If the jar contains 18 marbles in total, find the number of yellow marbles in the jar.
