MS 114: Minor Project Credit -4

MINOR PROJECT
The Project must focus on the application of management concepts, management theory

or techniques studied in the first and second semester to understand and address an

organizational or social issue or challenge. The project may be based on secondary or

primary sources of data. On completion of the project, students are required to submit a

project report. During the second semester, each student shall undertake a project to be

pursued by him/her under the supervision of an Internal Supervisor to be appointed by the

Director/Principal. The project title must be approved by the supervisor. There will be

internal ( 40 marks ) and external viva exams ( 60 Marks ). External Examiner will be

appointed by the University and an internal examiner will be appointed by Institute.

Guidelines for Minor Project Report 2025


Students are required to submit a Minor report in any ONE of the following suggested
areas of study: ( Based on Primary or Secondary Data)
A) A study of a particular sector/industry for eg., automobile, FMCG, telecom,
healthcare, information technology etc.
B) A study of a particular organization for eg. Maruti Suzuki, ITC, Bharati Airtel,
etc.
C) Social sector – students may choose a particular NGO, Welfare association etc.
D) Visit and prepare a report on any developmental banks, and industry associations
such as SIDBI, ASSOCHAM, FICCI, CII, etc.
E) Any subject related to Marketing/HRM/ Finance etc
F) Students may choose any other innovative topic not included in the
aforementioned areas. For the same, the student must consult the respective
mentor/guide for the objective, scope of the study and presentation of the report.

I. FORMAT OF MINOR REPORT: (REPORT STRUCTURE)

The final report should be written and compiled in the following sequence
(a) Title Page ( Annexure A)
(b) Declaration certificate (Annexure B)
(c) Bonafide Certificate (Annexure c)
(d) Acknowledgement
(e) List of Tables/Figures/Symbols/Abbreviations (if any)
(f) Table of Contents

CHAPTER PLAN:
Chapter 1 – Introduction & Objective of the study
1.1. Introduction of the topic
1.2 The objective of the project report
1.3 Scope of the study

Chapter 2 – Literature review (published paper on the topic)

Chapter 3 – Industry/ Sector Overview


3.1. About the industry (history, size, nature)
3.2. Products/Services offered
3.3. Geographic area (local, regional, state wise, national, international)
3.4 Recent trends & innovations
3.5 Government Regulation
3.6 SWOT analysis

Chapter 4 –Research Methodology


If primary data collected : sampling , sample size , research instrument,
how analysis was carried out
Secondary data : Complete source of data , its contents and how it has
been collected and analyzed

Chapter 5 – Findings & Conclusion


Based on data analysis presented in earlier chapters, relevant observations
inference to be made/drawn. The student is supposed to present his/her
practical suggestions/recommendations based on the study.

II. TYPING & FORMATTING INSTRUCTIONS

A. Number of Pages: Maximum-40 can be between 25-40)

B. Typing Instructions:
(a) Border Indents:
Top, Bottom & Right – 1 Inch
Left – 1.5 Inch
(b) Page Numbering – Bottom centered
(c) Font Type – Times New Roman
(d) Font Color – Black only
(e) Font Size – Uniform & Consistent throughout the report
Chapter Heading – 16 (Bold)
Titles – 14 (Bold)
Normal Text – 12 (Regular)
(f) Line Spacing – 1.5
(g) Graphical Presentation – Color / Black & White
(h) Reference Number - Each and every Table / Exhibit / Figure must be assigned its
reference number. E.g. – Table 1.1, Fig 1.1, etc.

C.PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS:
Paper – A-4 sheet

D. BINDING SPECIFICATIONS:
Spiral Binding: Front Cover – Plastic Sheet
Back Cover - Blue in Color

Students are required to submit 2 Spiral bound copies of the project report duly
approved and signed by their respective mentors and HoD.
E. General Instructions:
a. Do meet your mentors at least once in a week to discuss the progress and keep in
mind that mentors are required to maintain a record of such meetings.5 marks of
internal assessment are based on the regularity of the student’s attendance during
vacations.
b. Always prefer published materials over online sources whenever there is any
discrepancy in facts.
c. Acknowledge the sources from which you have extracted data in the references
section.
d. Edit data, as including data without doing so is considered an act of plagiarism and
may lead to cancellation of report.
e. Consult your guide only in all matters regarding your topic of study. Approaching
several faculty members at one time will only lead to confusion.
f. If the student uses any tables, graphs, figures, text or any other materials from other
sources, make sure to provide full citations of the source.
g. All tables and graphs, figures must be numbered and should be referred to as such in the
main body of the text.
h. Keep in mind that the mentor requires time to go through each project and provide
feedback. Submission of projects for approval close to the deadline may result in the
student failing in the project . Students shall be solely responsible for this.
i. Always run a spell-check before submission of the report.

j. The topic of your study cannot be changed except in case an overlap of topics is
found for two or more students. If any student does so, his/her project will be
summarily rejected.
k. Do not expect your guides to check details with regard to formatting of contents
(i.e. font size, margins etc.), as clear guidelines have been provided. Deviations
detected at any stage (including after submission of bound copy) will have to be
corrected.
l. No logo or photos copied from the internet will be accepted.
