GRANULATOR

Roller compactors or dry granulators are utilized for the dry granulating process, forming granules without moisture, which is ideal for heat and moisture-sensitive materials. They feature two counter-rotating rollers for compacting powders and offer advantages such as energy efficiency and uniform granule production, though they come with high initial costs and dust generation issues. These machines are suitable for medium to large-scale production in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries.

Roller Compactor (Dry Granulator)

Roller compactors or dry granulators are used for dry granulating process. The dry granulating
process is used to form granules without using a liquid solution because the product to be
granulated may be sensitive to moisture and heat. Forming granules without moisture requires
compacting and densifying the powders.

Features:

1. Uses two counter-rotating rollers to compact powder into sheets or ribbons.

2. Followed by milling to produce granules.

Advantages:

1. No need for liquid binders, suitable for moisture-sensitive materials.

2. Produces dense and uniform granules.
3. Energy efficient and suitable for continuous processing.

Disadvantages:

1. High initial cost.

2. Can generate dust and requires dust control measures.

Function:

1. Converts powder into granules without the need for wet granulation.
2. Used in pharmaceuticals and specially chemicals industries.

Scale:

1. Suitable for medium to large-scale production.
