ABSTRACT
The Electric Fault Location Detector is a system designed to identify and pinpoint faults in
electric power distribution lines, significantly reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
Traditional fault detection methods rely on manual inspection, which can be time-consuming
and prone to errors. This project aims to automate fault detection using microcontroller-based
technology integrated with sensors and communication modules.
The system monitors voltage and current at various points along the distribution line. When a
fault—such as a short circuit, open circuit, or ground fault—occurs, the system analyzes the
data to determine the exact location of the anomaly. The fault information is then transmitted in
real-time to a central monitoring unit via GSM, IoT, or radio communication, depending on the
design.
By providing quick and accurate fault detection, the Electric Fault Location Detector enhances
system reliability, improves response time, and contributes to efficient energy management.
This project is particularly useful in remote and extensive electrical networks where manual
fault detection is inefficient.
