QUESTION 2
2. Three bus companies determine the cost they charge according to the following specifications.
Bluebus : R5,00 per km
Greybus : Initial amount of R100 and then R3 per km
Greenbus : First 50 km at R3 per km and then R5 per km for every km more than 50
2.2 Write the equations (formulas) to calculate the cost for each bus company with regard to
the km travelled.
2.3 Identify the graph that is drawn on the answer sheet. Draw the other two graphs on the
same set of axes to illustrate the cost per km travelled for each bus company. Clearly
(7)
identify each graph and label the axes.
2.4 Give the values on the horizontal and the vertical axes for both the break- even points. (2)
2.5 Explain the relevancy of the two break-even points in the context of the question. Include (4)
the best option to choose from the bus companies in your explanation.
