2. History And Establishment directions.
- The Ethio ICT Park was officially established in 2015 as part of Ethiopia’s broader strategy to develop the
information and communication technology (ICT) sector. The Ethiopian government initiated the
project in the late 2000s, with feasibility studies conducted by international firms such as Wipro (India)
and Cisco (USA). Construction started in the early 2010s, and the park became operational in July 2015.

The area is connected to Megenagna, Goro, koye, and gerji, via the ring road. Different connecting
roads, including to Bole International Airport, are planned between the site and ; industries are
developing along this route, such as (safaricom national data center) These big infrastructural
projects will change the face of the area in the future.

Topography And Slope Analysis

B Section A

A
A
Section B

B Slope Less than 3%

• These Area Are Ideal for flat and expansive development such as parks, athletic fields, and Open green spaces
community gardens and walking paths can also be installed in these areas.
Slope Between 3-5%
• These Area Are Ideal for residential and commercial development, as well as low-rise and medium-rise buildings.
Roads and drainage can be easily installed in these areas.
Slope Between 6-9%
• These Area Are suitable for development of hillside homes and buildings with foundations that can withstand the
slope.
Hillside terracing and retaining walls can also be introduced in these areas.
Slope Between 9-12%
• These Areas require significant engineering to enable development. Hillside homes and building with special
foundations and retaining walls are suitable for developing these areas.
Slope Between 12-15%
• These Areas are steep and require extensive engineering efforts, retaining walls, and terrace designs .for steep
slopes
like this, natural vegetation, parks and open spaces are more ideal.
Slope Greater than 15%
• These Areas are highly challenging for development. The installation of buildings should be on flat ground or the
Utilities smallest part of the slope. Ideally, these areas must be preserved for natural landscapes such as woodlands and
parks and open natural spaces.

SWOT
ANALYSIS

Strenght Weakness

- location of the site by itself - less socioeconomic

-size of site / 28 hectare /
activity
-topography is available for school
-infrastructure , IT park and Bole - less vegetation in the area
lemi industry park nearby the site. - drainage system and
-geospatial is safe and available for wastes management
the construction
-the river nearby the site problems
-easily accessible - currently in development
- The area is connected to and unavailability of
Megenagna, Goru, Lebu, and Kaliti, amenities near by.
via the ring road.

Opportunities Threads
- the land value
- create work opportunities
- helpful for researching and
investigation because of
integration of different projects
as technological aspect
- Generate economic growth
- sustainability and efficiency
- market expansion
- big infrastructural projects will
change the face of the area in the
future.

Major Findings

 there’s no vegetation coverage

 Flooding and river buffering problems
 The area is not that much connection with community Less social service
 Very low economic activity

Recommendations

 Afforestation and planting indigenous trees

 Build terracing around the buffer zone
 Generate income by integrating the school to industrial park Use property the
slope to drainage system
 Build renewable energy like solar power

Making use of the vegetation to design the land scape.

The site needs have new utility lines.
WARMEST MONTH (FEB-JULY) sun gain avoid must creating an
opening for wind.
COLD SUMMER ( JULY-SEP) must maximizing solar HEAT gain.
