RATIONALE
With the growing problem of waste management in the Philippines, recycling has become
a critical strategy to reduce the harmful effects of waste on the environment. According to
NSWM instead of reducing solid waste generation, it steadily increased through the years. We
identified key challenges that led to this scenario, such as: the inconsistent implementation of
waste segregation and waste diversion, wherein the significant presence of mixed wastes was
found in landfills.
This project will help fulfill the need of the community in reducing waste as well as
providing practical skills of turning recyclable materials such as plastic bottles, paper, and
cardboard into useful and decorative items. This teaches residents about creativity in creating
something practical and usable in addition to empowering the community to take small
meaningful actions toward sustainable living.
OBJECTIVES
To educate the community about the importance of recycling waste to help the
environment -to encourage people to be more creative in making more useful material
made of waste
To motivate the people in the community to be aware and responsible towards
environmental conservation -to encourage appreciation about how the trash turns into
treasure
To showcase some skills like make a keychain decorations bookmark etc. using
recyclable materials -to create eco-friendly crafts that are useful, can be used, and be sold

BUDGET ALLOCATION
FUND
Funds will be raised through small-scale activities such as: we will be selling simple
snacks or baked goods and collecting material donations (plastic bottles, paper cups, straws,
magazines, etc.).
ACTIVITIES:
Planning & Preparation
The project will start with “Planning & Preparation”, where recyclable materials will be
collected from households, schools, and local businesses. Funds will be raised through small
activities like selling snacks and collecting material donations. The team will also coordinate
with barangay officials to gain support and secure a venue.
Next, during the “Workshop”, participants will learn about the importance of recycling
and be guided in creating useful crafts like keychains, bookmarks, and organizers using
recyclable materials. They will be encouraged to be creative and explore different designs.
Finally, in “Community Engagement”, a small exhibition will be held to showcase the
finished crafts. This will help raise awareness, encourage local businesses and residents to
support the initiative, and inspire more people to practice sustainable living.
Strategies/Product
Analyze: Determine the awareness and needs of the community concerning waste
management.
Design: Simple module for workshop on basic recycling techniques.
Develop: Materials preparation and sample crafts for demonstration purposes.
Implement: Conduct the workshop and teach the participants to create crafts such as
eco-bags, organizers, or decorations.
Sustainability: To ensure the long-term success of the Recycle Crafts project, strong
partnerships with the community will be established. By building strong community
partnerships and maintaining active engagement, the project will continue to promote
environmental awareness and sustainable practices long after its initial implementation.
Evaluate: Obtain feedback through questionnaires and interviews to determine if the
project is a success.
EXPECTED OUTCOME
The participants received a precise sense of recycling's significance as well as that of waste
disposal. Through activity work, members learned how to repurpose reworkable items and create
handy as well as imaginative crafts out of them. Not only was the waste curtailed but it also
provoked household recycling concepts into practice. Interest and enthusiasm in green behavior
were created and motivated, primarily in youth and parents. By and large, a sense of duty,
innovativeness, and ecological perception existed among citizens.
