SALVATION BY FAITH; SALVATION BY
HOPE
“For we are saved by hope. …” (Romans 8:24, KJV 2000)
“For the creation waits in eager expectation for the
children of God to be revealed. For the creation was
subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the
will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation
itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and
brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.
We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in
the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not
only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the
Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption
to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.” (Romans
8:19-23)
SALVATION BY FAITH; SALVATION BY
HOPE
“Then I saw "a new heaven and a new earth," for the first heaven and
the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any
sea.” (Revelation 21:1)
“But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a
new earth, in which righteousness dwells.” (2 Peter 3:13)
Not only you and I but the whole world will be delivered from the power of
sin and darkness into the light of life. This is the ____________________:
the grand climax of God’s story for the world.
Why is it called hope? Because it is in ___________.
“For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what
a man sees, why does he yet hope for?” (Romans 8:24, KJV 2000)
“…faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what
we do not see (Hebrews 11:1).”
“The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.” (1 Thessalonians
5:24)
KINGDOM OF GOD, HEARTBEAT OF
JESUS’ TEACHINGS
From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of
heaven has come near." (Matthew 4:17; cf. Mark 1:15)
But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to
the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” (Luke 4:43)
“And he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the
sick.” (Luke 9:2)
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these
things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven.” (Matthew 5:3)
“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:10)
"Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until
that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God." (Mark 14:25)
WHAT IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD LIKE?
“Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of
the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will
be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in
the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything
that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And
it was so.” (Genesis 1:29-30)
“The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will
lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and
the yearling together; and a little child will lead
them. The cow will feed with the bear, their
young will lie down together, and the lion will eat
straw like the ox. The infant will play near the
cobra’s den, and the young child will put its
hand into the viper’s nest. They will neither
harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for
the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the
Lord as the waters cover the sea.” (Isaiah 11:6-9)

WHAT IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD LIKE?
Some of the other Old Testament Kingdom pictures are:
The Kingdom of God on earth will be characterized by righteousness, peace,
and holiness (Exodus 19:6; Deuteronomy 28:9);
In this Kingdom appears a new heaven and a new earth (Isaiah 65:17; 66:22);
The desert becomes a fertile field and bursts into bloom (Isaiah 32:15);
The eyes of the blind is opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped (Isaiah
32:5);
The lame leaps like a deer, and the mute tongue shouts for joy; Water will
gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert (Isaiah 32:6);
The burning sand will become a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs
(Isaiah 32:7);
It is a world of gladness and everlasting joy; Sorrow and sighing flee away
(Isaiah 32:10).
WHAT IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD LIKE?
“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as
crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the
middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the
tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month.
And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer
will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the
city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his
name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will
not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will
give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation
22:1-5)
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or
mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed
away.” (Revelation 21:4)
CONFUSION ON THE KINGDOM
How can we define the Kingdom?

“The primary meaning of both the Hebrew word malkuth in the

Old Testament and of the Greek word basileia in the New
Testament is the rank, authority and sovereignty exercised by a
king. … First of all, a kingdom is the authority to rule, the
sovereignty of the king. … When the word refers to God's
Kingdom, it always refers to His reign, His rule, His sovereignty.
… The Kingdom of God is His kingship, His rule, His authority.” –
George Eldon Ladd (1911-1982) (The Gospel of the Kingdom.
George Eldon Ladd. Wm. B. Eerdmans Pub. Co. Grand Rapids,
MI. 1959, p. 13-23.)
CONFUSION ON THE KINGDOM
“… A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a
kingdom [basileia], and to return.” (Luke 19:12, KJV)
“A nobleman went into a far country to receive kingly power [basileia]
and then return. (Luke 19:12, RSVCE)
Therefore He said: "A nobleman traveled to a far country to receive for
himself authority to be king [basileia] and then return. (Luke 19:12,
HCSB)
"A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself
appointed king [basileia] and then to return. (Luke 19:12, NIV)

“Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a
little child will never enter it." (Mark 10:15, NIV)
“Verily I say to you, whoever may not receive the reign of God, as a child
-- he may not enter into it.” (Mark 10:15, YLT)
CONFUSION ON THE KINGDOM
“But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then
the kingdom of God has come upon you.” (Matthew 12:28)
"…Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are
entering the kingdom of God ahead of you” (Matthew 21:31)

“I say to you that many will come from the east and the
west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 8:11)
"Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been
pleased to give you the kingdom. (Luke 12:32)
CONFUSION ON THE KINGDOM
“Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of
God like a little child will never enter it.” (Mark 10:15).
“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and
drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy
Spirit.” (Romans 14:17)
“Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the
kingdom of God unless they are born again." (John 3:3)
"… The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of
our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and
ever." (Revelation 11:15)
OPEN-END SALVATION; “ALREADY”
BUT “NOT YET” KINGDOM
OPEN-END SALVATION; “ALREADY”
BUT “NOT YET” KINGDOM
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to
proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for
the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed
free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke 4:16-19)
In Jesus was _____________________________________. Jesus as
“autobasileia,” Himself the Kingdom!
“But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the
kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both
men and women.” (Acts 8:12)
“… He witnessed to them from morning till evening, explaining about
the kingdom of God, and from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets
he tried to persuade them about Jesus.” (Acts 28:23)
“He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus
Christ--with all boldness and without hindrance!” (Acts 28:31)
OPEN-END SALVATION; “ALREADY”
BUT “NOT YET” KINGDOM
Salvation is not a “closed-end” but it is an _________________. Today, we
are standing in __________________________________Kingdom.

In short, The Kingdom of God is the reign, rule, and sovereignty of God
manifested in _____________ to bring salvation to the earth, which has
________ started but _______ completed and will complete __________.
THE KINGDOM THROUGH THE LENS OF
MATTHEW 13
The seven parables can be paired as follows:

• The Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1-9; 18-23); The Parable of the
Weeds (Matthew 13:24-30; 36-43)
• The Parable of the Mustard Seed (Matthew 13: 31-32); The Parable of the
Yeast (Matthew 13: 33)
• The Parable of the Hidden Treasure (Matthew 13:44); The Parable of the
Pearl (Matthew 13:45-46)
• The Parable of the Net (Matthew 13:47-50)
THE KINGDOM THROUGH THE LENS OF
MATTHEW 13
Q1: Where does the Kingdom begin from?

“For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of
imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” (1 Peter
1:23)
“But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good
heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a
crop.” (Luke 8:15)
Q2: What happens next once the Kingdom has begun?
Q3: How does the Kingdom come?
Q4: How quickly does the Kingdom come?
Q5: How can we locate the Kingdom?
Q6: How can we take a hold of the Kingdom?
Q7: Who brings the Kingdom of God on earth?
THE KINGDOM THROUGH THE LENS OF
MATTHEW 13
And He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of
men." (John 4:19, NASB)
FIVE APPLICATIONAL KINGDOM
PRINCIPLES
#1: The Kingdom comes on earth when humans cowork with God.

“Quietism” is the 17th century’s heretical doctrine of Christian spirituality. It

teaches that human souls should be in passivity (quiet) in order to reach
perfection. Human effort should be suppressed so that divine action may have
its full play. For Quietists who wish to act and desires to do everything in
humanity is an offense against God. They should not be concerned about
salvation, perfection, or anything else but must leave all to God.
“The LORD looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are
any who understand, any who seek God.” (Psalm 14:2)
FIVE APPLICATIONAL KINGDOM
PRINCIPLES
#2: To be called for the Kingdom is “blessing” and building it is “for my
own good.”
“For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in
the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.” (Matthew 20:1)
“About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the
marketplace doing nothing.” (Matthew 20:3)
“About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing
around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long
doing nothing?’” (Matthew 20:6)
To this question, what do the jobless people answer?
“Because no one has hired us,’ they answered. …” (Matthew 20:7)
And the landowner graciously hired them: “… He said to them, ‘You also
go and work in my vineyard.’” (Matthew 20:7)
“And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also
justified; those he justified, he also glorified.” (Romans 8:30)
FIVE APPLICATIONAL KINGDOM
PRINCIPLES
Essence of Co-work with God:
“For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s
building.” (1 Corinthians 3:9)
“As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in
vain.” (2 Corinthians 6:1)
"Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with
rooms, and shall cover it inside and out with pitch.” (Genesis 6:14,
NASB)
“Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight
like a boxer beating the air.” (1 Corinthians 9:26)
“In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also
of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common
use. Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments
for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to
do any good work.” (2 Timothy 2:20-21)
FIVE APPLICATIONAL KINGDOM
PRINCIPLES
#3: In the heart of building the Kingdom are the Word and a community.
“Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat
down. His disciples came to him.” (Matthew 5:1)
#4: The Kingdom is not on “quantity” but on “quality”.
Quantity is something _____________________ while quality is
___________________________.
“As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple
treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins.
“Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the
others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out
of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” (Luke 21:1-4)
“I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken
and the other left. Two women will be grinding grain together; one will
be taken and the other left." (Luke 17:34-35)
FIVE APPLICATIONAL KINGDOM
PRINCIPLES
Two Views of The Day of the Lord:
“Say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear; your God will
come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come
to save you." (Isaiah 35:4)
“A sound of tumult on the mountains, Like that of many people! A sound
of the uproar of kingdoms, Of nations gathered together! The LORD of
hosts is mustering the army for battle. They are coming from a far
country, From the farthest horizons, The LORD and His instruments of
indignation, To destroy the whole land. Wail, for the day of the LORD is
near! It will come as destruction from the Almighty.” (Isaiah 13:4-6)
“Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who
live in the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming. It is close at
hand— a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness.
Like dawn spreading across the mountains a large and mighty army
comes, such as never was in ancient times nor ever will be in ages to
come.” (Joel 2:1-2)
FIVE APPLICATIONAL KINGDOM
PRINCIPLES
Two Views of The Day of the Lord:
The Bible contains many more verses about the day of the Lord
such as: Isaiah 2:12; Isaiah 11:11; Isaiah 13:9-11; Isaiah
19:16-17; Isaiah 24:21-22; Isaiah 26:1; Isaiah 27:1; Isaiah
27:12-13; Jeremiah 30:7-8; Jeremiah 46:10; Ezekiel 30:3-4; Joel
1:15; Joel 3:12-14; Amos 5:18-20; Micah 4:6-7; Zephaniah
1:14-18; Zephaniah 3:8; Malachi 4:1-2.
Based on their literal interpretation on these verses, Israel
always pictured the day of the Lord either _______________ or
___________________ against the Roman and any other
wicked rules. These two standard views can be called
respectively: ___________________ and
_________________________.
FIVE APPLICATIONAL KINGDOM
PRINCIPLES
Jesus, “autobasileia”:

“It was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the

Son of Man.” (Matthew 24:37; cf. Luke 17:26)

“What has been will be again, what has been done will be
done again; there is nothing new under the
sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9)
FIVE APPLICATIONAL KINGDOM
PRINCIPLES
#5: The Kingdom is the Cross of Jesus Christ.
“Then he said to them all: "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny
themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23; cf.
Luke 14:27; Matthew 10:38; Mark 8:34; Matthew 16:24)

Individuals in the Kingdom should live the Cross and be the Cross.

Finely woven net of the Cross forms the Kingdom.

FIVE APPLICATIONAL KINGDOM
PRINCIPLES
“Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, "Be fruitful and
increase in number and fill the earth.” (Genesis 9:1)
Noah was exactly the __________ patriarch before the Great Flood after
Adam. (According to the genealogy from Genesis 5, the ten names of the
patriarchs prior to the Flood are as follows: Adam, Seth, Enosh, Kenan,
Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, and Noah.)
“… Be fruitful and increase in number. …” (Genesis 1:28; Genesis 9:1)
“… Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor
as yourself.” (Luke 10:27)
These two commandment are identical in which they command us to:
1) ______________________________________.
2) ______________________________________.
FIVE APPLICATIONAL KINGDOM
PRINCIPLES

The Cross has two bars: vertical and a horizontal.

Three Dimensional Relationships

We should first properly set up the relationship to God (top and bottom)
and settle the other two relationships (front and back; left and right) too.
WHAT IS THE TRUE WORSHIP
SERVICE?
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of
God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy
and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper
worship.” (Romans 12:1)
Easily speaking, our bodies here are in other words
________________.
“… Offer yourselves to God as those who have been
brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to
him as an instrument of righteousness.”(Romans 6:13)

“The multitude of your sacrifices—what are they to me?”

says the Lord. “I have more than enough of burnt offerings,
of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure
in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.” (Isaiah 1:11)
WHAT IS THE TRUE WORSHIP
SERVICE?
“God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit
and in truth." (John 4:24)
“For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of
God rather than burnt offerings.” (Hosea 6:6)
“…. Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
as much as in obeying the LORD? To obey is better than
sacrifice. …” (1 Samuel 15:22)
“Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not
forget to show hospitality to strangers, …” (Hebrews 13:1-2)
MEANING OF SUNDAY SERVICE
“But the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall
not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or
female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your
towns.” (Exodus 20:10)
“The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the
generations to come as a lasting covenant. It will be a sign between me
and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and
the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was
refreshed.” (Exodus 31:16-17)
The Greek word for Sunday is "Kyriake," meaning the "Lord's day." The
Russian word for Sunday is "Voskresenie," meaning "Resurrection day." The
Spanish word for Saturday is “Sabado,” meaning “Sabbath.”
For Christians, the first day of the week, Sunday, the Lord's Day celebrates
the New Creation in Christ resurrected. Each Sunday is considered
________________ for Christians.
MEANING OF SUNDAY SERVICE
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but
fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (Proverbs 1:7)
The fear in the phrase, “the fear of the Lord” is different from
horror. Its original “Greek noun phobos can mean “reverential
fear” of God, “not a mere ‘fear’ of His power and righteous
retribution, but a wholesome dread of displeasing Him.” (Vine’s
Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament
Words, 1985, “Fear, Fearful, Fearfulness”)
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be
shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably
with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming
fire.” (Hebrews 12:28-29)
WHAT IS THE CHURCH?
#1: The body of Christ whose Head is Christ, built on the
foundation of sacrifice of His blood.
The word “church” comes from the Greek word ekklesia, meaning “an
assembly” or “called-out ones.” The root meaning of church is not that of a
building, but ____________________________, who were called out and
distinguished from the world.
“And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as
head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him
who fills all in all.” (Ephesians 1:22-23)
“And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the
firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the
supremacy.” (Colossians 1:18)
“Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh
what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his
body, which is the church.” (Colossians 1:24)
WHAT IS THE CHURCH?
“The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.” – Tertullian,
Apology

#2: A spiritual boot camp to bear fruit of love before going to

the Eternal Home (Heaven).
WHAT IS TITHE AND TITHING?
“A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit
from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.” (Leviticus
27:30)

“Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each
year.” (Deuteronomy 14:22)

"Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. "But you ask, 'How are
we robbing you?' "In tithes and offerings.” (Malachi 3:8)

“Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness
by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides
you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.” (Acts 14:17)
WHAT IS TITHE AND TITHING?
“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it
grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything,
but only God, who makes things grow.” (1 Corinthians 3:6-7)
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes
their steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)
Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me and will watch
over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and
clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father's house, then the
LORD will be my God and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be
God's house, and of all that you give me I will give you a
tenth." (Genesis 28:20-22)
“When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for
the good land he has given you. Be careful that you do not forget the
Lord your God.” (Deuteronomy 8:10-11)
WHAT IS TITHE AND TITHING?
“For every beast of the forest is Mine, The cattle on a thousand hills. “I
know every bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the
field is Mine. “If I were hungry I would not tell you, For the world is Mine,
and all it contains.” (Psalm 50:10-12)
“Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and olive oil, and the firstborn of
your herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God at the
place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn
to revere the LORD your God always.” (Deuteronomy 14:23)
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my
house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not
throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing
that you will not have room enough for it.” (Malachi 3:10)
“Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not
reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2
Corinthians 9:7)
IDENTITY OF CHURCH
#1. Build up the Kingdom on the foundation of Christ and the
Apostleship.
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in
me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who
loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)
#2: A “community” who wishes to experience the Kingdom in life and
advance it on earth.
“They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in
heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the
tabernacle: "See to it that you make everything according to the pattern
shown you on the mountain." (Hebrews 8:5)
“Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The
second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God
and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.” (Revelation

IDENTITY OF CHURCH
“For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves?
…” (Luke 22:27)
“… Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who
serves.” (Luke 22:27)
A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was considered
to be greatest. Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over
them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves
Benefactors. But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among
you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who
serves.” (Luke 22:24-26)
“Jesus called them together and said, "You know that the rulers of the
Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over
them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among
you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your
slave” (Matthew 20:25-27)

“They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going,
when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside
them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here

have seen him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:10-11)
“He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or

Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:7-8)
