"Walking with the Holy Spirit"

Introduction: Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is not a force,
energy, or symbol but a person with mind, will, and emotions. He is God's presence in us,
guiding, empowering, and sanctifying us to fulfill our divine calling.

John 14:16-17 (KJV)

"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you
forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not,
neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you."

Main Points to Consider

1. The Holy Spirit is Our Helper and Comforter

He helps us in our weaknesses, intercedes for us, and comforts us during trials. He gives peace
beyond human understanding.

Romans 8:26
"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we
ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."

John 14:26
"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall
teach you all things..."

2. The Holy Spirit Empowers Us for Service

He empowers believers with spiritual gifts, boldness, and the ability to witness and minister
effectively.

Acts 1:8
"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses unto me..."
1 Corinthians 12:7-11
"But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal..." (list of spiritual gifts)

3. The Holy Spirit Leads and Guides

He leads us into truth, reveals God's will, and directs our steps when we surrender to Him.

Romans 8:14
"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."

John 16:13
"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth..."

4. The Holy Spirit Produces Fruit in Us

The evidence of a Spirit-filled life is seen in the character of a believer, marked by love, joy,
peace, and other fruits.

Galatians 5:22-23
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance..."

How to Identify the Holy Spirit in Your Service to God

1. Inner Witness and Peace

When the Holy Spirit is involved in your service, you feel a deep peace and assurance, even
when outward circumstances are tough.

Romans 8:16
"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God."

2. Alignment with God’s Word

The Holy Spirit never contradicts Scripture. If your actions or service align with God’s Word, the
Spirit is at work.
2 Timothy 3:16
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God..."

3. Love and Humility Evident in Service

Service inspired by the Holy Spirit will always be marked by love, selflessness, and humility.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3
"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as
sounding brass..."

4. Power and Transformation

Lives will be changed—not just yours but those you minister to—through healing, deliverance,
conviction of sin, and growth in faith.

1 Thessalonians 1:5
"For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost..."

5. Glory is Given to Jesus

The Holy Spirit always glorifies Jesus, not the preacher, not the choir, not the church.

John 16:14
"He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you."

Conclusion: Walk in the Spirit

The Holy Spirit is not just for church services or special moments. He is our daily companion. We
are called to walk in the Spirit, be filled continually, and submit to His leading every day.

Galatians 5:25
"If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."

Ephesians 5:18
"And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;"
Final Encouragement

If you haven’t experienced the fullness of the Holy Spirit, ask God today. He gives freely to those
who seek Him.

Luke 11:13
"If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall
your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"
