3 6 GRBHL LTHLTGTL-L, I: FL (Rdlr0

The document outlines a quiz for a thermodynamics course focusing on a reheat regenerative Rankine cycle with a closed feedwater heater. It includes a series of calculations related to the cycle's performance, such as ideal and actual extracted steam for feedwater heating, turbine work, and cycle efficiency. Students are required to provide a summary of their answers and attach their solutions.

REGENERATIVE CYCLE WITH ONE CLOSED HEATER: Fill up the blanks with your answers below.
1. A steam power plant operates on a reheat regenerative Rankine cycle with a closed feedwater heater. Steam enters
the turbine at 8 Mpaa and 500 deg C at a rate of 15 + (a0/SN) kg/sec and is condensed in the condenser at a pressure of
20 kPaa. Steam is reheated at 3 MPaa, 500 deg C. Some steam is extracted from the turbine at 1 Mpaa and is completely
condensed in the closed feedwater heater and pumped to 8 Mpaa before it mixes with the feedwater heater at the
same pressure in a mixing chamber. The Terminal Difference for the CFWH, (i.e., the difference between the
temperatures of the fluids leaving the heater) is 5 deg C. Assuming an isentropic efficiency of 88 percent for both the
turbines and the pumps, determine:
