Recommendation on probation:
(1) the student’s candidature be confirmed
(2) the student be asked to submit a revised research proposal for the Panel’s evaluation within three months, based on which the Panel will make a
new recommendation
(3) the student’s candidature be discontinued
If the student has requested to transfer from the MPhil to PhD program, and received Probation Recommendation (3), the transfer request is not
supported. If the student has received Probation Recommendation (1) or (2), please make one of the following recommendations based on the criteria
listed in the attached Probation Evaluation Sheet:
(1) the student’s transfer request be supported, and the thesis topic is suitable for a PhD;
(2) the student’s transfer request be supported, but the thesis topic is not suitable for a PhD; the student be asked to submit a revised research
proposal for the Panel’s evaluation within three months, based on which the Panel will make a new recommendation; or
(3) the student’s transfer request not be supported.
If the thesis with creative work is proposed, please make one of the following recommendations:
(1) the proposed submission requirements be approved
(2) the student and supervisor be asked to submit revised submission requirements for the Panel’s evaluation within a month, based on which the
Panel will make a new recommendation
