4.1 Introductory
Activity
(3 minutes)
Do: Present a picture of family portrait. The father, mother, brother and sister where lines and
colors were used to show them in the drawing.
4.2 Activity Ask: 1. What is in the picture? - a family (father, mother, sister & brother)
(10 minutes) (Let them read and spell the word)
What other things do you see in the drawing? - - lines and shapes (lines were used to draw
the family portrait and shapes were used to draw the body and clothing of each family member.
4.3 Analysis Do: Look at the box below. Can you identify the shapes? Trace in the air
(5 minutes) the shapes that you can see in the box.
Do: Take a look at another family portrait below. It was drawn using lines and shapes.
Ask: Can you tell how the drawing was made to look more interesting?
Why do shapes look different?
Say: A shape is made up of lines that meet to enclose a space. Everything we see around us has
a shape. Some shapes that objects have are circle, square, triangle, oblong, and rectangle.
Ask: What are the objects that can be found in your home with the shapes as square, circle,
rectangle, triangle and oblong? – circle (wheel), rectangle ( door) square ( pillow) triangle
( hanger)
4.4 Abstraction
Do: Let them draw and color the shapes that can be found in the house. Properly guide the

learner-volunteer in doing this activity.
Say: Everything that we see, our surroundings and we are works of Art.
Every one of us, you and I can create beautiful Art. We can use pencil to draw and crayon to
color it and make it beautiful.
Do: Ask the learners to prepare their art tools/materials. Let them draw a group portrait by drawing
4.5 Application the family members in a bond paper and color it using crayons or colored pens. Observe proper
