Criteria D: Evaluating

Strand 1: Product Testing

Testing the website through peer/target audience evaluation:

I have conducted a survey on target audience and my friends using Microsoft Forms. I showed them a video of my
product, and also let them try my product. My friends and the target audience were ideal choices for testing the product
because all of them live in the digital age, and all of them are part of the heathcare industry. Thereofre, it was ideal for
them to think like healthcare officials and evaluate whether my website provides a good UI for the healthcare industry.

Peer Response from Survey

The above survey shows a mixed response to my website. My improvements lie in a good user interface, a good color
scheme and an interactive menu bar. The functionality was also well received. However, the working of the hyperlinks
for some was fine, but for the other half it was not working fine. The size of the homeage was enough, but it needed to
include more animations. The contact form was working well but the message confirmation wasn’t there. The average
rating my website got was an 8.5 out of 10.

Testing the website through expert and client evaluation:

To truly understand the efficiency of my website and know if it solves the real-world problem, I conducted a survey with
my cousin who is a doctor and is an active part of the healthcare industry. He was both the client and the expert in this
situation. Furthermore, I conducted the survey with my friend who is an expert at creating websites. He was a good
expert in this case because his technical feedback helped me evaluate the effectiveness of my website. Below is a table
showing the expert and the client evaluation. The survey is in Appendix D.

Bug Testing through peers

Alongside my overall functionality and the aesthetics, it was a requirement for me to confirm if there were no bugs
present. According to the feedback I took from my peers on Google Meets, my contact page and the message
confirmation did not work as intended for some. Additionally, my video wasn’t working for anyone, which I could have

Strand 2: Evaluating against design specifications
As an IB Student, evaluation against your set standards is an essential part of design, therefore highlighting the need for

Explanation of each criteria
Specification Explanation
Aesthetics My client and the expert were pleased with the overall look of the aesthetics, but the client wanted it
to be a bit more formal and less flashy. Rollover images were not included because it had to be formal
and the expert liked the straightforwardness of the website, which was also liked by the client. The
colour of my website wasn’t kept silver because I thought of making it a bit unique, since my menu bar
was also in that line. I wanted my title to stand out, however, this was flashy, which was a negative.
The colour of the menu bar was black because while making it, the colour of the menu bar suited well
with black. I did not include webpages or any such content because my aim was to first establish a
strong UI which can please the client and the expert, and then move on to the content. This was
therefore achieved to a large extent, with them giving me an average rating of 7.5 out of 10 on my UI.
Client The subtitles of the images were set in a client-like manner. This suggests that my images and my text
was tailored to the client, and the website was made with the client in mind. The addition of a log-in
page and the location page proves the point because this gives the client and idea of the different
ways I can be contacted.
Safety The website is completely safe with no hyperlinks leading to malicious websites which could develop
trust issues with the client. However, the pages which I did not create, their hyperlinks lead to the C++
Library, but it isn’t malicious and can be ignored.
Size I did not include many webpages because I wanted to test the UI of my website. There was only one
video in the homepage and none in the webpages because I wanted the client to take information
from my website rather than acquiring it from external sources.
Functionality This website was primarily created to inform and suggest healthcare companies to integrate biometric
scanners, which are a part of IoT, so as to preserve and sustain the patient’s data and protect it from
digital theft. This was met to a certain extent, however due to me lacking content, it did not meet the
requirements.
Materials I used all of the materials for photo editing and testing my code, other than InDesign primarily because
it is a magazine making website, and I did not want to include advertisements in my website.
Strand 3: Suggesting Improvements
It is extremely important to highlight and justify the improvements suggested by my clients and the peers in a separate
section so as to understand the overall extent of achievement of my website. Alongside, when I make changes to my
website, it would be easier to access the improvements, which also lead to better organizational skills.
Improvements Justification
Making the size of the According to my peers, making the size of my homepage larger would contribute
homepage larger immensely to the functionality of my website primarily because the homepage is the
first thing the client looks out for, and they need a proper and a structured overview
as to what the website would contain and why they should invest their time in my
product. Since my client is a part of an important industry, a structured overview is
necessary.
Adding in more animations This was one of the improvements suggested by my peers to make the website more
interactive. They thought the website’s homepage was extremely simple, and they
wanted it to be more modern.
Making the colours less flashy According to my client, it would be better if I made the colours less flashy and more
tailored towards the healthcare industry. According to him, my colours looked more
like a technological website and made it seem less targeted towards the healthcare
industry, which is a concern due to my aim being the healthcare sector.
Working of the hyperlinks My hyperlinks were supposed to work whenever I clicked them, which was a
functionality I wanted to be established rightly. However, I did not create some
pages and they linked to the CSS Library. Instead, I could have just not added
hyperlinks or put a #, which would not link it to any page.
Working of the video Another improvement was the working of the video. My video should have worked
well because it was inserted rightly into the code, but it didn’t. This affected the
quality of my product and all the people I surveyed highlighted this issue.
Message Confirmation According to my peers and the expert, I needed to include a message confirmation
when they click on the submit button of the contact form. This impacts my client
because they are left doubtful as to if there message has been submitted or not,
which again is a concern as it brings down brand loyalty.
Strand 4: Impact of product on the client
Impact on Client or Target Audience
My product has helped my client to a moderate extent. According to my client, it was extremely important to be concise
and to the point, which my website achieved according to the survey I conducted. Him being a healthcare expert, I could
truly measure the success of my website through him. Alongside, he appreciated the UI and mention that he was
persuaded at a 70% to consider my website, which is a moderate success. The hyperlinks to different pages were
working fine to the pages I created, and the important pages for the UI were all there. He also appreciated the fact that I
had included a contact and a location page, which adds to the versatility of my product.

However, he was not impressed overall with the colours used in my website. He told that the colours were too flashy
and did not link as such to the client, which affected the overall performance of my website. My website needed to link
to the target audience, and the colours should more so suit the hospital theme, not the technological theme. This is the
reason by website lost 3 points, or a 30%.

Impact on self
Throughout this whole process, I have thought about how this project has impacted me. The first development is more
of a technical factor, which is coding. Having no large coding experience before this project, especially dealing with
HTML, CSS and JavaScript for such a huge project for the first time, I learnt a few new techniques and tricks. Alongside, I
developed my research and communication skills, which helped me develop as an IB student and as a global citizen. My
whole project was based on simple statistics, but those statistics when solved would make a huge difference. This
project constantly reminded me of major steps which a student can take to solve an issue at a global and a wider scale in
a wider world.

To what extent was the design brief met?

I achieved my design brief to a large extent. My whole project was based on one statistic, and my intended audience
was clear throughout the designing of my website and my report. Conducting research on similar products helped a lot
because I could think of the standards of my product. The materials used were also met to a large extent, which helped
me overall in terms of my design. Other than the improvements mentioned above, my design brief was met to an 80%
extent, which is an approximation by me, through both primary and secondary research throughout.

Measuring Success Against Global Context and SoI

According to my evaluation supported by the surveys I conducted, I believe I have followed the global context of
Globalization and Sustainability quite well. This is because IoT is a concept which fits under globalization, and sustaining
data so that it doesn’t harm the future generation comes under sustainability. My product, which was a website,
performed quite well in this field because of the average rating I received from the expert and my client.

It also relates to the statement of inquiry, Various perspectives adapt emerging global developments for a sustainable
future because my perspective on biometric scanners and why it is necessary for the healthcare industry through a
website adapts to global developments since my website can reach a wider range of people. This shows a sustainable
future as data is being protected, and the future generation is secured.
