1. What is an ideal community?

To me, community is all about belonging—a space where people are connected, no matter their
background or origin. A true community cannot exist without interaction. It thrives on
collaboration and shared goals. That’s why I believe the most important values a community
must uphold are camaraderie and unity. Members should genuinely care for one another, work
together, and create an environment where everyone feels safe, comfortable, and happy.

2. Community Project

Hardin ni Eba’t Adan

Implementing Person: Alysha Ashley Mae M. Rodriguez, in partnership with Caysio SK Officials

Project Location: Northville 5-A, Caysio, Sta. Maria, Bulacan; There's a vacant land near the
elementary school. It just became a dumpsite for people's unwanted stuff.

Proposed Start Date: April 28, 2025.

This is best to be done within children's summer break. They could spend their seizure time
growing plants. Kids nowadays must learn to enjoy life outside the digital world. Naturally, this
would be performed in the morning so they won't get sick because of the excessive heat index.

Estimated Budget: ₱10,000

Breakdown of Expenses:

● Fence installation

● Seeds (vegetables and fruit-bearing plants)

● Water supply

● Fertilizers

● Other gardening materials

Partners:

Government Participation: Local Government Unit (LGU)

— I am planning to collaborate with our Local government to fund and call in for other
volunteers.

Other Donors: Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of

Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)
— In a broader aspect, this is a great step to help our environment. Our country must at least do
something to prevent the strike of another hell-like summer. Moreover, this kind of project will be
a stone that hits two birds as it can be a way to, if not solve, lessen the population of families
suffering from hunger and malnutrition.

Thus a contact and support from national government sectors like DENR and DSWD would be a
game changer.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
MISSION

This initiative aims to restore the green space in our community by replanting trees that were cut
down last year and by growing fruits and vegetables. These will help provide food for financially
challenged families while also supporting environmental health.

Trees don’t grow overnight, but the short-term goal is to enhance our ecosystem by increasing
plant life. This helps reduce the harmful effects of UV rays, improves air quality through oxygen
production, and absorbs carbon dioxide. The produce grown in the garden can be harvested by
families within the barangay to support their daily meals.

Given how intense the summer heat has been—especially with climate experts warning of even
hotter days ahead—this project is timely and impactful. In the long run, it will provide a shaded,
refreshing space where people can gather and cool off during the sweltering heat.

VISION
A fun and colorful space where children can enjoy environmental activities.
A beautiful, “Instagrammable” spot teens would love.
A peaceful place where adults can enjoy a breath of fresh air.
A place full of freshly picked vegetables and fruits.
Overall, a sanctuary that brings joy, relief, and unity to the entire community.
PLAN OF ACTION

Phase 1: Planning and Coordination

From April 28 to May 4, 2025, the initial focus will be on organizing a meeting with SK officials
and the local government unit (LGU) to finalize project details. During this period, necessary
permits and approvals will be secured. together with the SK council, we will also reach out to
potential partners such as the DENR and DSWD for resource support and collaboration.

Phase 2: Site Preparation

Between May 5 and May 9, 2025, the identified vacant land will be cleaned and cleared of
debris. Fencing will be installed to protect the area, and water access or a basic irrigation
system will be set up. This phase will involve the help of community volunteers and support from
LGU workers.

Phase 3: Planting Phase

The official planting will begin on May 10, 2025, and continue until May 15. Seeds for fruits,
vegetables, and ornamental plants will be distributed, and planting activities will be led by other
youth volunteers. Basic signage and walking paths will also be added to enhance the space and
make it more inviting for the community.

Phase 4: Maintenance and Monitoring

From May through August 2025, the garden will be regularly maintained. A schedule for
watering, weeding, and monitoring plant health will be created. Small teams made up of youth
and other community members will be assigned to ensure consistent care. Any dead plants will
be replaced, and weekly progress will be logged to track growth and changes.

Phase 5: Community Engagement Activities

Throughout the summer, the project will host community-building activities such as a “Gardening
Day” where children and parents can join in taking care of the garden. In partnership with
DENR, an environmental education session will be held. Additionally, a social media campaign
will be launched to showcase the garden’s progress and promote environmental awareness.

Phase 6: Evaluation and Sustainability Plan

By September 2025, the project will undergo a simple evaluation to assess whether objectives
have been met. Plant health, community participation, and environmental benefits will be
considered. Depending on the results, proposals for continuing or expanding the garden will be
submitted, along with efforts to secure future funding or donations for its long-term sustainability.
