4. Show that the equations ax + by + r = 0, by + cz + p = 0, cz + ax + q = 0 represent
planes perpendicular to xy, yz, zx planes respectively.

Sol: Equation of the given plane is ax + by + r = 0...........(1)


Equation of the XY – plane is z = 0. Now, a1a2 + b1b2 + c1c2 = a(0)+ b(0) + 0(1) = 0

Equation of the given plane is by + cz + p = 0...............(2)
Equation of the YZ – plane is x = 0. Now, a1a2 + b1b2 + c1c2 = 0(1)+ b(0) + c(0) = 0

Equation of the given plane is cz + ax + q = 0...............(3)
