• This question paper consists of 6 pages.
• Read ALL the instructions and adhere to them carefully.
• This assignment consists of two sections:
SECTION A: Poetry / Novel / Drama / Short Story (15 marks)
SECTION B: Short transactional writing (20 marks).
• You teacher will direct you as to which question you must complete in SECTION
A.
• Answer BOTH sections as follows:
- ONE question from SECTION A
- ONE question from SECTION B
• In QUESTION 1, you may choose any TWO poems you have studied in class.
Clearly state your choices.
• Start EACH section on a NEW page.
• Number your answers using the numbering system used in this assignment.
• You may have the literature text, your workbook and/or other study notes with
you as you complete this SBA-task.
• Pay special attention to spelling and sentence construction.
• Suggested time allocation:
PREPARATION: 30-45 minutes (prior to writing the task).
SECTION A: 15 marks: 45 minutes
SECTION B: 20 marks: 45 minutes

• Choose ANY TWO poems you have studied in class.
• Clearly state your choices.
• Answer the set questions in response to the poems you have chosen.
• Remember: Choose TWO poems that include the elements on which the
questions are based, so that you will be able to answer all the questions.

State the title of the chosen poem.

Identify TWO qualities of the structure of this poem. (2)

1.1.2 (a) Quote and identify a sound device in this poem. (2)

(b) Explain the effectiveness of this sound device in the context of

Your school is hosting a poetry evening at which the poems you are
studying will be read and discussed. The school has decided to invite
the grade 11s of the neighbouring schools to attend this evening.

Write this invitation and incorporate the theme(s) of the poems in


Question 1 in this invitation.

NOTE: Marks will not be awarded for drawings, illustrations


and/or pictures. (20)

OR

4.2.2 NOVEL/SHORT STORY/DRAMA

Your school is hosting a stage production of the novel/short


story/drama you are studying. The school has decided to invite the
grade 11s of the neighbouring schools to attend this production.

Write this invitation in which you incorporate the theme(s) or a short


summary of the novel/short story/drama.

NOTE: Marks will not be awarded for drawings, illustrations


and/or pictures. (20)
