SYLLABUS IN INTRODUCTION TO PHILIPPINE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM

I. VISION : We shall be the premier academic community through quality education and training.

IV. PROGRAM SPECIALIZATION OUTCOMES :


Bachelor of Science in Industrial Security Management
1. Conduct cost-effective security survey, audit and inspection for private and public institutions.
2. Conduct risk and impact analysis and loss event profiling for enterprises and state-owned establishments.
3. Develop and implement competitive intelligence, security and corporate investigation programs.
4. Plan and manage any form of contingencies and emergencies and contain crisis.
5. Formulate and implement security management plans and programs including business continuity plans and management.
6. Organize, develop, and operate a security guard force and private detective agency.

VII. COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course covers the introduction of the important aspect of the criminal justice system and the related issues. It also
includes the topic on the pillars of the criminal justice system in the Philippines, their main functions, roles in the practical administration of justice –law
enforcement, the prosecution, the courts, the correction, and the community. It also covers their respective functional relationship as well as individual roles in
the administration of justice system in the solution of crimes.

At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

XI. GRADING SYSTEM:

PRELIM GRADING PERIOD = CLASS STANDING (60%) + MAJOR EXAMINATION (40%)


MIDTERM GRADING PERIOD = CLASS STANDING (60%) + MAJOR EXAMINATION (40%)
FINAL GRADING PERIOD = CLASS STANDING (40%) + MAJOR EXAMINATION (60%)
FINAL GRADE = PRELIM GRADE + MIDTERM GRADE + FINAL GRADE

XII. COURSE REQUIREMENTS:


60% - Compilation of notes/handouts including results of quizzes and other written exercises
40% - Participation and assignments

XIII. COURSE POLICIES AND GUIDELINES:


Provisions for consultation: Discussions/interactions will be through mobile phone, email exchange and other social media applications.
(Please refer to the Student Handbook)
1. Attendance - attendance is check as classes are conducted.
2. Tests and make-ups. All quizzes for this course must be completed. The major examinations would be done on varied modes.
3. Extra credit to students who complete the projects as required for the class and to do the best they can on each project throughout the semester.
4. Requirements such as assignments/projects should be submitted/posted on or before the given deadline.
5. Coordinate with the instructor using various modes given on concerns /problems regarding the requirements.
6. Non-submission of the requirements will mean incomplete grade or a failing grade.
