1. Summary
A set of books is a central element in Financial and Management Accounting since it defines the
appropriate combination of all relevant entities defining the operations of a company, like Accounting
Principles, Chart of Accounts, Fiscal Year Variant and settings for Fixed Asset Accounting. One set of
books may be assigned to multiple companies, ensuring consistency of operational set-up across
businesses.
2. Expected Result

When executing the implementation described in this document, you will have defined an active set of
books that may be assigned to one or more companies in the business system.
3. Prerequisites
1. You have a user with administration rights to enable you to make changes in Business
Configuration and Fine Tuning.
2. A corresponding implementation project in status “Started” has been created in SAP Business
ByDesign and Project Scoping has been executed for Fine-Tuning to begin.
3. Corresponding Accounting Principles, required countries, and Charts of Account are available in
the system.
4. Steps
1) In the Business Configuration work center, choose the required Implementation Projects view and
select your project. Click Open Activity List.

2) Select the Integrate and Extend phase and search for and then open the Set of Books activity.
3) In the Set of Books activity, you can make the following changes:
a. Edit an existing set of books, for example, you can change:
i. Basic data, such as the Accounting Principle or CoA assignment, fiscal year
variants etc.
ii. The assignment of companies to the particular set of books
iii. The respective settings for Fixed Assets for the particular set of books
b. Create a new set of books by selecting New Set of Books – all relevant information
similar to a) above needs to be maintained here.
