1.5. Distribution

This Instruction for Continued Airworthiness is to be furnished to the owner/operator of the aircraft being altered and
is to become part of the permanent aircraft record upon installation. A current revision of this ICA shall be available
by contacting Cutter Aviation, Inc. toll free at (800) 234-5382. Cutter Aviation shall notify by mail any ICA holders on
record when revisions are made available.

2. Description of Equipment
The Collins AHS-3000A AHRS system is designed as a replacement for the Collins AHS-85E AHRS system. The main
components of the AHS-3000A system as installed on the Beechjet 400A aircraft are as follows :

1. AHC-3000A : The AHC uses inertial sensors to measure angular rate and linear accelerations about the
body axis of the aircraft, and digitally processes this data to obtain 3-axis angle, rate, and acceleration
information.
2. ECU-3000 : The ECU stores aircraft type and installation specific data. For example, compensation data for
compass errors due to the magnetic field of the earth and misalignment of the FDU is stored in the ECU. This data is
particular to each aircraft, and is obtained during an automated compass swing procedure. The ECU stays with the
aircraft if the AHC-3000A must be removed for maintenance reasons.
3. FDU-70 : The FDU is a gimbaled, 2-axis magnetic sensor that detects the horizontal component of the earth’s
magnetic field. Flux detector data is used by the AHC to compute the stabilized magnetic heading.

3. Control and Operation Information

The AHS-3000A system is operational only after a successful initialization cycle is completed. This initialization occurs
automatically when DC power is applied to the computer. A successful initialization is indicated by the following:

1. The heading and attitude flags clear from the display (go out of view).
2. The aircraft current magnetic heading is displayed by the compass cards.
3. The current pitch and roll attitudes are shown on the associated instruments.

The only crew operating controls for the AHS-3000A system are the external Fast Slave buttons. Momentarily
pressing the Fast Slave button allows the headings to quickly align with the magnetic field sensed by the flux detector unit.

4. Servicing Information
None of the components listed in Section 2 require regular servicing. Each of these items are considered to be an
“On-Condition” failure item.

5. Periodic Maintenance Instructions

Every 12 calendar months, conduct a visual inspection of the AHC-3000A system components specified in section 2 and their
wire harnesses for security of attachment. Visually inspect wiring harness to insure no chafing or wire routing problems.

6. Troubleshooting Information

No tests beyond those shown in section 7.8 (Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) Test) are necessary. Fault
isolation is conducted through standard troubleshooting procedures. No special fault isolation techniques exist.

6.1. Diagnostic Information

The AHC-3000A continuously performs in-line monitoring functions. The LRU monitors for excessive aircraft
maneuvers and data received from the FDU and air data source. The unit annunciates detected faults through the
maintenance words output on the general purpose ARINC 429 data bus. The AHC also provides indications of the
system status on the front panel LED. If the AHC-3000A has a critical fault, the LED will be red. If the FDU-70, or
ECU-3000, but not the AHC-3000A has a critical fault, the LED will be amber. If there are no critical faults the LED
will be off.

7. Removal and Replacement

NOTE: If at any time the MMT-3010 AHRS mounting tray or it attaching structure is removed or disturbed, the Post Installation
Attitude Leveling Procedure called out in section 7.9 must be performed.

7.1. AHC-3000A Removal
