Find the unit digit of 623753  23438  6957

23 37 64

A. 4
B. 1
C. 0
D. 2

Ans. D
Sol.

Cyclicity of 4 & 9 is 2

⇒ Unit digit of numbers like (………4)n

i) when n is odd = 4

ii) when n is even = 6

⇒ Unit digit of numbers like (………9)n

i) when n is odd = 9

ii) when n is even = 1

Cyclicity of 7 is 4.

So, in case of any number with unit digit 7 raised to some power, power is divided by 4
and remainder is obtained. We can find unit digit in this case using following table

23
First, consider 623753

We will use the remainder theorem to find the remainder

As the remainder is 1, so unit digit of 623753  7

23

37
Now, 23438
37
Since power of 234 is even, the unit digit of 23438 = 6
64
Now, 6957
64
Since power of 69 is odd, the unit digit of 6957 = 9

Hence Unit digit of 623753  23438  6957 = 7 + 6 + 9 = 2

2. Find the unit digit of, (1!)99 + (2!)98 + (3!)97 + ………………+ (99!)1

A. 0

B. 1

C. 5

D. 7

Ans.
Sol.

199 + 298 + 697 + 2496 + 12095 + 72094 + ……………….

⇒ 1 + 4 + 6 + 6 + 0 + 0 + ……….

⇒ 7 (unit digit)

3. Find the unit digit of 273445 × 367495 × 49349 + 47259 – 2722

A. 6

B. 1

C. 2

D. 5

Ans. A
Sol.
Whenever (N)P is given, use the concept cyclicity, and divide the power by 4

→ 31 × 73 × 31 + 23 – 9

→3×3×3+8–9

→ unit digit = 6

4. If the unit digit of 8174×3789×185N is N+5, then what is the value of N?

A. 2
B. 6
C. 8
D. 7

Ans. D

Sol.

Unit digit of 8174×3789×185N is N+5

We know that in order to find unit digit of product of numbers we can simply multiply the
unit digit of each number.

So,

By hit and trial method, we get 5 values (i.e. 1,3,5,7 & 9) of N which satisfies the above
relation

But there is only one value given in question (i.e. 7), Hence option D is the answer.

5. Find the unit digit of the following expression: 28981 + 27864 +26749 + 25654 +24425 +
23216
A. 2
B. 5
C. 7
D. 8

Ans.

Sol.

By applying the rule of cyclicity,

Unit digit of the expression,

91 + 84 + 71 + 62 + 41 + 24 = 9 + 6 + 7 + 6 + 4 + 6 = 38

So, the unit digit = 8

6. If 𝑥 = (164)169 + (333)337 – (727)726, then what is the units digit of x?

A. 5
B. 7
C. 9
D. 8

Ans. D
Sol.

We know,
Repeatability of 3 and 7 is four.
While repeatability of 4 is two.
𝑥 = (164)169 + (333)337 – (727)726
= (164)4𝐾 + 1 + (333)4𝐾 + 1 – (727)4𝐾 + 2

⇒ 4 + 3 − 9 = −2
= 10 − 2 = 8
Thus, the Unit digit of 𝑥 = 8 since, −2 can not be the unit digit.
7. Find the unit digit of the expression (2792x + 2343x), where x is a natural number?

A. 5
B. 7
C. Either 5 or 7
D. 3

Ans. C
Sol.

For any x, 2792x has last digit as 1. But the last digit of 2343x is 4 for odd values of x and
6 for even values of x.
3x is odd for odd values of x and even for even values of x.

Therefore, last digit of the given expression is either 5 or 7.

8. Find the tenth-place digit in the expression 89444.

A. 8
B. 4
C. 6
D. 9

Ans. B
Sol.

To find the tenth-place digit, we have to divide the above expression by 100.

Since 89 & and 100 are co-prime, we will take help Euler Theorem.

Euler totient of 100 = 22  52

1 4
100    40
2 5

89 40
So, will leave remainder as 1 as per Eular Theorem.
100

89444 89   89
40 11 4

Now, 
100 100
7921 7921

100
21 21

100
441

100

Hence the tenth-place digit is 4.

9. The last two digits of the number 2367 are:

A. 64
B. 76
C. 12
D. 28

Ans. D
Sol.

We know that the number in the form (……2)10×(Even No.) will have last two digits as
………..76.

Here, 2367 = 2360×27 = 210×36 × 27

= 76 × 27 = 76 × 128 = ……………28.

Note: 76 × 2n = ……………(last two digits of 2 n) for 𝑛 > 1.

10. When 925 is added to another three-digit number 2X4 such that we get a four-digit
number 11Y9 and 11Y9 is divisible by 11, then the value of 2X + Y is equal to
_________.

A. 17
B. 19
C. 21
D. 23

Ans. D
Sol.
The units digit of both the numbers 925 and 2X4 when added together give 9 as the units
digit of the sum as given in the question. It means no carry over is obtained from it.

Also, the addition of the hundreds digit of both the numbers, i.e., 9 + 2 = 11 which is the
same as the hundreds digit of the sum. It means 2 + X = Y

11Y9 is divisible by 11, so, (9 + 1) - (Y + 1) = 11n, where n = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, ...

Y = 9 and X = 9 – 2 = 7

So, the value of 2X + Y = 2(7) + 9 = 23

Hence, option D is the correct answer.

11. When the unit digit of the given series below is divides a single digit number N, the
remainder is 1. How many such values of N are possible?
S = 21 × 72 × 23 × 74 × 25 × 76 × ........ 7100.

A. 2
B. 0
C. 1
D. 3

Ans. D
Sol.

Firstly, we have to calculate the digit at the unit place of the given series.

S = 21 × 72 × 23 × 74 × 25 × 76 × ........ 7100
S = (21 × 23 × 25 ........ × 299) × (72 × 74 × 76 × ........ 7100)

The power of 2 is a multiple of 4, so the digit at the unit's place is 6.

7 2550 can be written as 7 2548  7 2 , which gives the digit at the unit’s place as 1 9  9 .

The digit at the unit’s place of the given series is 6  9  54 , i.e., 4.

4 divides 1, 5, and 9 to give a reminder of 1 every time.

So, there are 3 such possibilities. Hence, 3 is the correct answer.

12. If the ten’s digit of a square is even, then which of the following can be the unit’s digit?

A. 1
B. 0
C. 4
D. All of these

Ans. D
Sol.

It is given that the ten’s digit of a square is even number.

Option A: Unit digit is 1.

This is possible. For example (11)2 = 121. Here ten’s digit is an even number and unit
digit is 1.

Option B: Unit digit is 0.

This is also possible. For example (10)2 = 100. Here ten’s digit is an even number and
unit digit is 0.

Since two of the given options are correct. So, the answer should be ‘all of these’.

13. If the unit’s digit of n2 is 5 more than its ten’s digit and 0 < n < 100, then how many
natural number values of n are possible?

A. 0
B. 4
C. 8
D. 40

Ans. C
Sol.

Possible cases of ten’s digit and unit’s digit = (0, 5); (1, 6); (2, 7); (3, 8); (4, 9)

Case I: When ten’s digit is 0 and unit digit is 5.

This is not possible because in a perfect square when the unit’s digit is 5, the ten’s digit
will be 2.
Case II: When ten’s digit is 1 and unit digit is 6.

Possible cases: 42, 542, 462 and 962.

Case III: When ten’s digit is 2 and unit digit is 7.

This case is not possible because a perfect square never ends in 7.

Case IV: When ten’s digit is 3 and unit digit is 8.

This case is not possible because a perfect square never ends in 8.

Case V: When ten’s digit is 4 and unit digit is 9.

Possible cases: 72, 572, 432 and 932.

Thus, there are a total of 8 possible cases.

Hence, option C is the correct answer.

43
14. Find the unit digit of 25
A. 4
B. 2
C. 8
D. 6

Ans. B
Sol.

We know that:

So, the cyclicity of 2 is 4

Now,

So, remainder is 1; so, units digit is 21 = 2

Hence, option (B) is the correct answer.

15. The sum of the cubes of the digits of the 3-digit positive number is
1136. The sum of the two in the unit’s and the ten’s place of the
number is four times the digit in the hundred’s place. Further, when
the digit of the number is written in the reverse order, the new
number thus formed is 297 more than the original number. Find the
number.

A. 104
B. 235
C. 366
D. 497

Ans. D
Sol.

Let the number be abc.

The value of the number is 100a+10b+c
It is given that;
(i) a3+b3+c3 = 1136
(ii) b+c = 4a
(iii) 100c+10b+a – (100a+10b+c) = 297
or, 99(c-a) = 297
or, c-a = 3
or, c = a+3
Keeping (ii) and (iii) in mind, the possibilities are;

Out of these cases, in only (iv) we get a3+b3+c3 = 1136

Note: a cannot be 5 as then 𝑏 + 𝑐 becomes 20, but 𝑏 + 𝑐 ≤ 18 as b and

c are both numerals can be only in the rage of 0 to 9.
