1. Introduction
MonoFront Solar Private Limited. Is an EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) Company
providing all range of customized, integrated solar solutions and products to the customers in all sectors
like commercial and industrial enterprises We are in renewable energy market starting from conception,
feasibility, load auditing, designing and execution with technical knowledge, skill with quality products
and commitments are the key factors leading us to enhance our customer database. Market knowledge,
dedicated and well-trained professional teams have given us the opportunity to operate as one of the
best sources in solar solutions for domestic, community, industrial, water pumping and street lights.
Solar PV Systems are primarily of two types – grid tied systems and off-grid systems with battery backup.
The grid tie systems do not have the option of battery backup to cater for loads during on solar hours. The
commercial grid tied systems are essentially synchronized with the grid at 3 phase voltage of 415 V and
above, and these systems work only when the Grid power is available or there is secondary source of
supply in the form of a Diesel Generator (subject to certain constraints). In case of off grid systems, they
work purely for the loads designed to and are not allowed to export any power into the Grid.
The solar energy generated from this Grid Connected Solar system proposed to you will provide reliable
and economical form of energy and reduce your dependence on grid power currently being supplied by
your DISCOM. The Grid Connected Solar PV systems compromise of various key components like solar
modules, power conditioning units/inverters, charge controllers, batteries and other electrical equipment
which together constitute the overall system.
2. Solar System Description
3
Solar Photovoltaic power generator is the total arrangement of modules in series and parallel
Connections. The individual crystalline solar cells are connected together in a module (in series
connection), which are hermetically sealed to survive in rugged weather conditions and ensures optimum
performance during its long life. In order to achieve a higher system voltage, modules are installed in a
row arrangement, called a string. A higher system voltage has the advantage of lesser installation work,
higher efficiency of the entire plant and usage of smaller cross section cables. Calculated no. of strings is
connected in parallel in the generator junction boxes. Outputs from many such junction boxes are
connected in parallel in the Main Combiner Box (MCB). This Main Combiner Box output is fed to the Solar
Power Control Unit (SPCU) to covert solar generated DC power in to conventional 3 phase AC power.
SPCU operate on MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) or on PWM mode to ensure maximum output
from the solar generators at different ambient conditions.

4. Technology Selection & Key Components
Photovoltaic (PV) is the technical word for solar panels that create electricity. Photovoltaic material, most
commonly utilizing highly purified silicon, converts sunlight directly into electricity. When sunlight strikes
the material, electrons are dislodged, creating an electrical current, which can be captured and harnessed.
The photovoltaic materials can be several individual solar cells or a single thin layer, which make up a
larger solar panel.
4.1 Solar PV Modules
Solar panels receive sunlight as a source of energy to produce electricity or heat. A photovoltaic module
is usually a connected combination of photovoltaic solar cells. Photovoltaic modules constitute the
photovoltaic array of a photovoltaic system that generates and supplies solar electricity in many
applications. Each module is rated under standard test conditions by its DC output power, typically ranging
from 100 to 550 watts. The efficiency of a module given the same rated output, some commercially
available solar modules exceed 22% capacity and reportedly even exceed 24%. A single solar module can
provide only an inadequate amount of power. Most of the installations include multiple modules. A
photovoltaic system includes an array of PV (photovoltaic) modules, an inverter, interconnection wiring,
a battery pack for storage, and a solar tracking mechanism optionally.
4.2 Inverters
Solar PV modules produce DC power which has to be converted into AC to export to the grid. The same
can be done using inverters. The excellent productivity level and system availability of this inverter series
offer a unique solution designed to optimize the ROI (return on investment) of medium to large-scale PV
installation. The modular approach guarantees increased energy efficiency, available in MPPT
configuration for minimum mismatching losses. Excellent reliability is achieved by the application of
intelligent monitoring functions and top- quality components, including faster, safer, fault-free
connections. Advanced grid management features ensure optimized system operability in a wide range
of conditions throughout the world. Modular design ensuring highest system availability Max. Efficiency:
98.6%. Advanced grid management features like LVRT, HVRT, Power factor regulation etc. DC Load Break
disconnect for each inverter module to provide isolation from the solar array
4.3 Module Mounting Structure
Our PV modules mounting structures are Fixed Structure/Single axis tracking system made with Mild
Steel /hot dipped Galvanized Iron for holding the PV modules. The legs of the structure shall be fixed and
grouted in the RCC foundation column. The foundation will support SPV modules with structure at a
5
given orientation, absorb and transfer the mechanical loads to the ground properly and withstands
maximum wind speeds up to 150km/hr. All fasteners are made of good quality Stainless Steel.
The structures are designed to allow easy replacement of any module. The minimum clearance of the
lowest part of the module structure and the developed ground level will be more than 400 mm. The
array structure is designed in such a way that it will occupy minimum space without sacrificing the output
from the SPV panels.
4.4 AC Distribution Board
All distribution boards will be having MCCBs and Indicators. Energy Meters are to be interconnected
through copper/Al bus bar and are to be housed in a suitable sized sheet metal, enclosure. The panel
board will be grounded and for this purpose a suitable ground terminal is to be arranged. The distribution
panel board is dust and vermin proof which is environmentally safe and high-quality paint will be done for
the panel. The distribution panel board shall be wall mounted type and of front door opening type. The
Distribution panels are designed for cable entries and consist of MCB at incoming and at outgoing
terminals suitable size Cu wire will be supplied and installed for interconnection of inverter.
4.5 Lightning & Over voltage protection
SPV Power Plants will be provided with Lightning and over voltage Protection connected to proper earth
pits. The Lightning conductors shall be provided as per IS standard in order to protect the entire Solar
Array yard from Lightning strikes. Lighting conductors shall be earthed through flats and connected to
earth mats as per applicable Indian Standards with earth pits.
4.6 AC & DC Cables
Solar cables are extremely robust and resist high mechanical load and abrasion. High temperature
resistance and excellent weatherproofing characteristics provide a long service life to the cables used
in large scale projects. The connectors with high current capacity and easy mode of assembly are to
be used for the connections of the power plant cables.
4.7 AC & DC Earthing
The complete Solar PV power Plant with all its accessories will be grounded, so that in the event of a
lightning strike or utility over voltage, current will find a safe path to earth. Each Solar PV array structure
shall be grounded properly as per IS standard. The earth conduction shall run through appropriate pipes
partly buried and partly on the surface of the control room building. The complete earthling system shall
be mechanically & electrically connected to provide independent return path to earth. Each Array
structure of the SPV Yard shall be grounded properly. The array structures are to be connected to earth
6
pits as per IS standards. The earthing for the power plant equipment shall be made as per provisions of
IS. Necessary provision shall be made for bolted isolating joints of each earthing pit for periodic checking
of earth resistance. The complete earthing system shall be mechanically & electrically connected to
provide independent return to earth. All three-phase equipment shall have proper earth connection.
4.8 Net metering
Net metering is a billing mechanism that credits solar energy system owners for the electricity they add
to the grid. For example, if a residential customer has a PV system on their roof, it may generate more
electricity than the home uses during daylight hours. If the home is net-metered, the electricity meter will
run backwards to provide a credit against what electricity is consumed at night or other periods when the
home's electricity use exceeds the system's output. Customers are only billed for their "net" energy use.
On average, only 20-40% of a solar energy system’s output ever goes into the grid, and this exported solar
electricity serves nearby customers’ loads.

manufacturing/design/installation defects.
3. BOS Material:
All BOS Material listed in BOM like AC distribution boards, digital meters, switchgear etc. shall have
warranty for a minimum period of 5 years against any manufacturing/design/installation defects.
10. Operation & Maintenance
11
Grid connected solar plants require minimal operational effort and work reliably without any human
intervention except in case of rate technical failures. The major maintenance effort required in the
operation of a Solar plant is by the way of keeping the solar panels free of dust, by periodic cleaning with
water. Other than this activity which is season and location dependent, there is no other operational effort
required on regular basis. The output power from a solar panel is directly proportional to the input
received in the form of solar radiation impingent on the panels. Any shadow created by an external object
or radiation blocked by dust particles can reduce the generation by up to 25 to 30%. Hence it is of
paramount importance to keep the panels dust free and shadow free. Since shadows from static objects
over the roof or nearly by buildings and trees are taken care of at the design stage, the only parameter
you will be left to deal with is the dust. The frequency of module cleaning would depend on the ambient
conditions, it is generally recommended that the modules be washed at least 3 to 4 times in a month. You
will have to make adequate arrangements for module washing along with necessary piping and fittings
and use clear water without any turbidity for cleaning. MonoFront operation manual will provide clear
instructions on panel cleaning and other aspects of operation and maintenance. MonoFront Solar will
train your maintenance staff in cleaning and other operational aspects.
