Tutorial 2: Orthographic Projections

LAB2: Submit Q2 as Lab2


LAB 2 INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Submit a scanned copy on Moodle by Sun, 03-Oct-21, not later than 1800hrs.
2. Late submissions will lead to loss of marks and protracted delays will score a zero as stipulated in the
assignment settings on Moodle.
3. Your names must always be in INK.
4. The File name must follow this pattern: Student ID_SURNAME_First name_Lab2 . A maximum of 2
marks shall be lost for not following this naming instruction correctly.
5. Originals must be availed whenever demanded by the course instructor.
6. Cheating will lead to loss of marks and possible litigation by Departmental Academic Disciplinary
Committee (DADC).

1. The figures (a) and (b) below are isometric drawings of simple blocks. Using a scale of 1:1,
draw three orthographic views (front view (A), right-end view (B) and plan (top view) of
the components:
i. block (a) in first angle projection.
ii. block (b) in third angle projection.

2. LAB 2
Figures below represent a bracket. Study the diagrams carefully and answer the questions
that follow. Use appropriate scale where necessary, and approximate dimensions where not
indicated.
Draw the following views in Third angle projection:
a) A front view from the direction of the arrow A [12 Marks]
b) A side view from the right hand side [12 Marks]
c) A top view (plan) [10 Marks]
d) Dimension your drawings fully. [6 Marks]

3. The figure below is an isometric drawing of a bracket. Using a scale of 1:1, draw three
orthographic views (front view, top view and left-end view) of the component in first angle
projection. The front view must be taken in the direction of arrow A and left-end view in
the direction of arrow B. Dimension your drawings fully. [38 Marks]
