products is set to rise in 2025.1

The government’s decision to keep the value-added tax at


11% for essential goods2 should ease pressure on inflation and
support consumer purchasing power, benefiting the FMCG
sector. While consumers remain optimistic about Indonesia’s
economic conditions, they are becoming more cautious,
experimental, and selective with brands.3 Understanding
these shifting spending patterns will be crucial for brands to
sustain growth in Indonesia’s evolving market.4

Meanwhile, e-commerce continues its rapid expansion, with


online spending projected to reach $120 billion in 2025,
accounting for 64% of total consumer spending.5 Increased

Indonesia’s construction industry is set to grow at an
average annual rate of 6%, driven by investments in
transport and energy, alongside the government’s ambitions
to establish a regional electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing
hub with a production target of 600,000 units by 2030.1

Major infrastructure projects are progressing, including


Jakarta’s second mass rapid transit line, which is expected to
complete its first stage in 2031,2 and the development of the
new capital, Nusantara, despite delays and funding hurdles.3

The mining sector remains key to economic growth,4 with


$1.3 billion allocated for strategic downstream projects in
2025, aimed at strengthening economic performance.5

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s energy transition from fossil fuels


to renewables is advancing but faces implementation
challenges.6 The 2025 renewable energy target has been
revised down from 23% to 17-19%,7 with fossil fuels continuing
to play a prominent role in the electricity mix over the
medium term.8 However, efforts to attract green investment
are underway, including relaxed local content regulations.9
