CLASS ASSIGNMENT-4

TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING-2(CE3203)

Student Name – Maharnab Kundu

Department – Civil Engineering
Roll No. – 2021CEB077
Semester – 6
Assignment Submission Date – 06.04.2024
Topic- Traffic Engineering
1. A three-zone city has the following trips produced in and attracted to the three zones as follows.

Zone 1 2 3 Total
Trips produced (Pi) 700 200 0 900
Trips attracted (Aj) 0 400 500 900

The impedance and corresponding friction factors have been calibrated as follows:

Impedance 2 4 6 8 [Travel times in min]

Friction factor (Fij) 10 7 6 5

Travel times (min)

D 1 2 3
O
1 2 4 6
2 4 2 8
3 6 8 2
Distribute the trips between the zones, assuming Kij = 1

2. A three-zone city has the following characteristics:

Production Attraction
Zone 1 500 400
Zone 2 600 800
Zone 3 200 100

Initial travel time factors are

Travel time (min) 10 15 20

Friction factor (Fij) 80 60 40

Distances (time):
1-2: 10 min; 2-3: 15 min; 3-1: 20 min
Distribute the trips using the gravity model.
