STAGE DESIGN AND FLEXIBILITY
STAGE DESIGN
Stage design refers to all the visual elements on stage in a performance, including the set, the props, the
costumes, and the lights. Stage design is also referred to as production design and scenic design. Stage
design considers what the stage picture will look like in a performance. Often, the art of stage design is
referred to as scenography.
DESIGN FLEXIBILITY
This can allow a building to evolve over time as the user needs change. The flexibility of a building or
elements or elements of its design can allow it to be used efficiently despite changes in operational
requirements, whereas an flexible building might become obsolete.
a. Architectural Style & Concept
In the architectural style and concept, the following will be our initial design that we are planning
to use.
Type of Stage
PROSCENIUM STAGE
The proscenium, or “Italian style,” theatre. In this form, the stage is separated from the house by a
wall with a large arched opening (the proscenium, which can sometimes be rectangular or square)
that allows the audience to see through from the house to the stage as if looking through a frame
at a large moving picture.
Flexibility
APRON
The apron is the area of the stage that extends forward from the
proscenium. It is typically shallower in depth than the main stage and
traditionally extends wider than the proscenium. The apron can also be
used as a performance space without using the entire stage behind it.
Architectural Style
MODERN DESIGN
Modern design is an interior design style characterized by a monochromatic color palette, clean
lines, minimalism, natural materials, and natural light.

Wall Designs & Lighting
PVC wall panels have good sound insulation and strong sound absorption. It can diffuse sound,
reduce the impact of sound, and has good sound insulation performance.
Ceiling Design
Ceiling Reflector Panels is beneficial on walls and ceilings of auditoriums, theatres, performance
halls and lecture rooms. As these panels are designed to reflect sound rather than absorb, the faces
are non-perforated. Optional acoustic insulation on the back of panels absorbs non-directed sound
within the plenum and enhances the overall acoustical performance of the room.
Theater Room Curtain
Theatre room curtains are also crucial for sound and light control. For example, heavy wool curtains
like IFR Theatre Wool can help absorb sound. This means they stop echoes and make the sound
clearer. This is very important in places like theatres and cinemas where good sound quality is
needed. Curtains also help control light. Some fabrics are designed to block out light completely.
Floor Finishes
Vinyl is used widely in theatre. The plain colours with a satin matt or plain matt finish look great
under lights. This are suitable for the demanding needs of the theatre – floors that will stand up to
trucks, heavy equipment and props running over them or even floors to enhance lighting effects.
Color Palette
Maroon, Cream, Brown, and White
