The Creation Myth (Greek and Roman Mythology) – “How the World and Mankind Were
Created”

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a. Identify and describe key characters in the story
b. Compare and contrast the Greek creation myth with other cultural
creation myths, identifying similarities and differences (themes,
characters, and motifs)
c. Evaluate the cultural influence of the Greek creation myth, such as its
impact on art, literature, and contemporary society
d. Apply their learnings to their future profession
II. Learning Contents
A. Topic: The Creation Myth “How the World and Mankind Were
Created” (Greek and Roman Mythology)
B. Materials: Laptop, Printed Images, Printed Handouts, Manila
Paper “Visual Aid”, and other instructional materials (Alternative)
C. Reference/s: Mythology (Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes by
Edith Hamilton, page 65-77.
III. Procedures
Reporters’ Activity
A. Before the Lesson
1. Greetings
 The reporters’ will greet their students with a warm and positive introduction to have an
engaging atmosphere in the classroom environment.
2. Motivation
 Before the formal discussion begins, the reporters’ will conduct a motivational activity
inspired from the well-known game called “Pinoy Henyo” to capture the interest of the
students, activate students’ prior knowledge, and lastly, energize the students.
 The mechanics of the game are:
1) The students will be grouped to three
2) Each group must have one representative to guess the words
3) The other members of the group will give clues closest or related to the words that
needs to be guessed by their representative
4) The group with the highest score wins.
3. Presentation of the Lesson
 The reporters’ will present the flow of the discussion and which among the two reporters
will discuss first.

B. During the Lesson


1. Formal Lesson Proper
 The reporters will present the title of their assigned topic, which is The Creation Myth
“How the World and Mankind Were Created” (Greek Mythology)
 The reporters will distribute handouts to the students that contains information about
the lesson and for them to take notes
 The reporters will always ask the students from time to time in order to keep track if
the students are able to understand the discussion
2. Enrichment Activity
 A formative assessment will be conducted by the reporters, which is called Character
Matching
 The reporters will ask their students to match each character with their corresponding role
or attribute
 The students will be encouraged to answer each question by raising their hands

C. After the Lesson


1. Generalization
 A quick recap will be given by the reporters about the topic discussed during the lesson,
including important characters, events, themes, and its impact on art, literature, and
contemporary society.
 The reporters will discuss how they can relate their learnings in their future lives as future
educators
2. Evaluation
 A short post-assessment will be given by the reporters.
 A question will be raised by the reporters and a name from the students will be called to
answer the question. The questions will be highly related to the topic that was discussed
3. Assignment
 An assignment will be given by the reporters to their students.
 The students are tasked to make a Venn Diagram. They must identify the difference and
similarities of the Creation Myth in Greek and Roman
 Therefore, the students will read the Roman version of the Creation Myth by doing a
research (Note: A summary of the story in Roman version will do to save time while
doing their assignment.)
