For centuries, language has always been the major source of communication. It is
argued that the annual extinction of many languages is not a problem due to the
fact that having fewer languages will lead to a more convenient life. This essay
disagrees with this statement because the reduce in of languages will affect
cultures.
To begin with, language is not a group of spoken words,; rather, it represents one’s
country and cultural resources. Language has evolved throughout thousands of
years to reflect what it means and how crucial it is to have a mother tongue. For
instance, the Danish language has a wide range of vocabulary and grammar, but
unfortunately their second language and one of the most utilized ones is English
due to its popularity all around the world. That is the main reason why so many
languages are getting extinct day by day, even though they have an enormous
number of words and cultural resources in their native language.
Furthermore, nowadays speaking English and Chinese will alienate more people
over the world. English might be common, but there are other languages that are
more appealing to individuals these days. To illustrate this, in today’s modernized
world, there is a type of music k-pop which is Korean pop and that is the only
reason why Korean is becoming one of the most commonly used languages all over
the world, while English is on seventh place. It has also been reported that in
Vietnam the government is trying to make English as a second language, but there
are individuals who are against this statement. However, for a long period of time
English has been an internationally spoken language in business and other spheres,
and it will never change.
To sum up, many spoken languages may make life better due to the fact that more
cultures will be present on our planet and more languages will be able to be spoken.
The line graph depicts the consumption of energy in the United States since 1980
with predictions until 2030.
Overall, it can be clearly observed that the highest unit of consumption of energy is
petrol and oil, with nuclear, solar/wind and hydropower remaining at the lowest
levels.
To commence with, the consumption of petrol and oil was at about 35 units at the
beginning of the period which subsequently, began fluctuating and suddenly
levelled off at 41 units that will most probably continue increasing till the year of
2030. A little lower, there are results of coal and natural gas with 20 and 16 units
respectively in the year of 1980. The coal starts off with 16 units and fluctuates till
the year of 2020 when it will begin rising year by year. Natural gas resources have
almost the same results starting with 20 units, fluctuating throughout the year and
remaining stable since 2013 till the end of the period depicted.
There are three the least contributed energy units left: nuclear, solar/wind and
hydropower. All of them were around four units at the beginning of the period. They
stayed relatively unchanged from 1980 to 2010, and they are expected to keep this
trend till the year of 2030.
