1 Overview
The guide is mostly applicable to V6.20 (Minos).
This guidebook collected the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for CS and PS, which
are now commonly adopted in presales bidding projects; and the definitions of different
KPIs and counter formulas for V6.2 is described here as well.
Generally, KPIs can be classified into four types: statistical KPIs, testing KPIs,
equipment performance KPIs, and user perception KPIs. Only statistical KPIs and
testing KPIs are elaborated here. KPI involves different factors. It is also closely related
to the network radio environment.

Formula 2:
(C900060020 + C900060031 + C900060043 +
Formula 1 is the old one in the previous Guide. Its problem is that the
numerator does not include the number of call drops but the
denominator includes the number of call attempts when TCH is used as

signaling. Theoretically, call drop always occurs after successful channel
assignment. Then the denominator should be the number of SDCCH
assignment successes instead of the number of SDCCH attempts.

3.3.4 SQI
KPI SQI
KPI
TEMS test value
Definition
Testing
DT
Method
Notes This KPI is for inspecting the sound distortion degree resulted from
incapable link transmission. The formula gained Ericsson’s patent. It
takes into consideration many factors, including BER, FER, handover
frequency, handover conditions, DTX activated (or not), and the
encoder in use, to finally get the speech quality indicator (SQI). There
are different SQI top limits for different types of encoders. For half-rate
encoder, the SQI top limit is 19; for full-rate encoder, 21; for enhanced
full-rate encoder, 30. SQI ranges from 18 to 30. SQI value will increase
when EFR or AMR is applied.
4 CN CS KPIs
If there is only one CCCH channel in the cell and AGCH block is two. Paging block is 7(9-2=7) in one
51 multiframe. Total PCH block are 26808. The max capacity of sending paging is 107232 under using
TMSI on a quarter of one hour(Paging Type 3). But the number of paging is random. Paging type is
shifty and paging type3 don't hold. In fact ,the max capacity can't achieve on Um interface. When bulk
paging comes sometime, some paging message will be discarded because of paging queue.
Remark: one multiframe is 235ms. Before we repeatedly calculate BTS capacity. BTS capacity is about
400000.it is correct. But peak value is not considered.
When using TMSI paging, MS maybe receive one type paging message of Type1 or Type2 or
Type3. Paging message busy degree decide that BTS send which type paging message.BTS will send
Type 3 message when paging message of is very busy. BTS send Type 2 message when it is not too
busy. BTS send Type1 when it is not busy. When paging message is little or no paging message, Ms
can receive Type 1 paging message. But message content maybe is null.
When BTS only send IMSI paging, BTS can't send Type 2 or Type 3 and only send Type 1 message.
Every block have up 2 paging message. So TMSI paging capacity is double of IMSI paging capacity.
BTS paging capability when extreme cases(4 TMSI or 2 IMSI in CCCH block )
In fact, paging message is not smooth. BTS sometime send TMSI and sometime send IMSI.Therefore,
practical and effective sharing of CCCH blocks should be discounted. Lets assume that 50% of its. So
the result is as follows.
BTS will discard some paging message which can't be handled when bulk paging come. Because
there are a variety of paging type of the mixed, so handling paging capability can't up to capacity.
