I. Objectives:

At the end of 45 minutes period, the students should be able to:

a. describe the good and harmful effects of the sun’s heat and light on oneself.
b. identify safety precautions on the effects of the sun’s heat and light;
c. appreciate the importance of sun’s heat and light on oneself.

Good Effects of Sun

Energy

1. Energy - the sun give us humans, plants,


animals, and all living things energy. Because
the sun is the primary source of energy on
Earth.

Light

2. Light – sunlight is important because it


brightens our surroundings. Without light, we
will be blinded because sunlight is the only
source of light on the Earth.

Heat

3. Heat- sun heat is important because it give


us warm, without sun the Earth will become
freeze.

Harmful Effects of too much Exposure of Sun

Early aging

1. Early aging – time spent in the sun makes


you skin age faster than normal. Signs of this
are wrinkled, leathery skin, and dark spots.
Skin damage

2. Skin damage – excessive exposure to


sunlight can burn or harm your skin. This
condition is called sunburn.
Eye damage

3. Eye damage – UV rays can damage the


tissue in your eyes. They also can blur your
vision.
Heat Exhaustion

4. Heat Exhaustion- the sun’s heat and warm


air make you sweat a lot. It can lead to
dehydration. Exhaustion left untreated it can
lead to Heat Stroke.

Safety precautions from the harmful effects of
