ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Hotel Classifications (CLO2, C4)

In a group (size of each group to be determined by your lecturer), you are responsible to
come up with a video presenting a category of hotel from the list shown in Table 1. Your
lecturer will assign the category of hotel to your group. This presentation should cover basic
definitions, planning and development objectives, issues as well as current trends linked to
that category of property.

The video presentation should be able to answer the following questions:


1. Definition about hotel and sub-category of hotels belong within the same
classification
2. Define at least five (5) general planning and development objectives/ characteristics
for that category of hotel
3. Define the general planning and development objectives/ characteristics for all sub-
categories of hotel belong within similar classification
4. Explain the current issues and trends linked to that category of hotel
5. Give examples of hotel (local or international) for each category and sub-categories
within similar classification.

Formatting requirements:
1. Your presentation should be not more than 10 minutes and it should cover all 5
criteria mentioned earlier on. Professionalism is key; therefore make sure that the
language in use, presentation material as well as clarity of explanation is clearly
reflected in the video.
2. Students are required to constantly communicate through various channels convenient
to you to ensure active participation of all members.

Submission:
Week 8 through dedicated channel as described by your lecturer. The weightage of this
assignment is 10%.
