1. Microsoft (MS) application programs have common features and specific features that differentiate
each application program from other MS programs.Using the Microsoft Programs, answer the following
questions
i. Describe five common features found in both MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint program.
ii. Describe features found in the File menu of Microsoft programs
iii. Describe features found in the Ribbon Tab of Microsoft word program
2. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are essential tools for creating documents, presentations, and
managing data. With examples, explain six uses of each of the following Microsoft programs
i. Microsoft Word
ii. Microsoft Excel
iii. Microsoft PowerPoint
3. Decipher the shortcut keys and functions for each item from I to XXII, as depicted in the provided
picture of the Microsoft Word 2013 interface.

4. Open Microsoft Excel and create a simple spreadsheet. Enter the following data into the cells:

i. After creating the spreadsheet, Sort the PRODUCT column in Ascending order then Take a
screenshot of your spreadsheet and paste it into your work under item i as an image
ii. Write the formula used to calculate the Total in Cell F3
iii. Name the components of Excel for the following

b. Worksheets

5. The below diagram shows the payroll of XYZ minimarket staff suppose the allowances allocated is
10$% of the basic pay. Tax deduction is calculated at 20%, Social contribution is calculated at 10%.
Base on the value of row number 4 provide the formula to calculate the followings;
i) Basic Pay
ii) Gross Pay
iii) Tax deduction
iv) NSSF Contributions
v) Allowance
vi) Net Pay
