CURRENT KINDERGARTEN PARENTS

be attending their orientation morning.

INDOOR/OUTDOOR FOOTWEAR
It is important that students have indoor footwear to change into when they enter the school. Our
school is a safer and cleaner place when dirt and mud are left at the front door and not tracked
throughout the school. Please ensure that your child has a change of footwear for indoor use only.

COMMUNICATIONS – CONTACT NUMBERS

It has become apparent that as more of our families choose to only have a cell phone number listed as a
contact, it has become increasingly difficult, and not easier, to get a hold of parents when deemed
necessary. Please make sure that the school office has additional numbers or ways to get in contact with
you (or another designate) in case your child is sick or in the event of an emergency. Also, if your
contact numbers have changed, please notify the office. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

AFTER SCHOOL ARRANGEMENTS

If you have an unexpected change in plans, call the office (902-368-4150) before 2:00 pm to ensure your child’s
teacher is aware of the change. This will help us make sure that we don’t have children missing the bus or taking
the bus when they shouldn’t. Thank you for your help in this matter.

HEAD CHECKS
Parents are asked to continue to regularly check your child(ren)’s head for lice/nits and to notify the school if you’ve had to
provide treatment. Thank you for your co-operation in this.

Our Easter Seal Ambassador, Vaeda Zo Matheson, and her bus tour were

LM LITERACY LOWDOWN
This week some of the students were talking about what literacy means to them. Here are some of their answers:
Literacy means…
...reading and writing
…learning about writing, revising, and editing
…writing and using your imagination
…writing words, sentences and making sense.
We see literacy…
…in school and in our classrooms
…by the principal’s office, in books
…everywhere.
We learn about literacy…
…so we can learn new things
…to improve on our reading and writing
…to write better and make better sentences.
When I hear the word literacy, I think about …
…writing
…tests, spelling, books, work and my brain!
…writing and reading and having fun
…school, words, sentences, books and pencils
