Advanced Reharmonization Cheat Sheet

1. Chord Substitutions
- Tonic (I) -> iii, vi, Imaj7, I6, Imaj9
- Pre-Dominant (IV) -> ii, IVmaj7, ii7, IV9
- Dominant (V) -> V7, V7b9, V13, bII7 (tritone sub)
- Minor ii-V-I: iiø7 -> ii7b5, V7 -> tritone sub or altered dominant

2. Stepwise Bass Reharm Tricks


- Walkups: I -> iii -> IV or I -> V/vi -> vi
- Walkdowns: IV -> iii -> ii or I -> bVII -> vi
- Chromatic passing chords: C -> C#dim -> Dm7 or F -> E7 -> Am

3. Passing Diminished & Dominants


- Between major chords: C -> C#dim -> Dm7
- Dominant passing: G7 -> Db7 -> Cmaj7
