1. a). Outline seven teachings about human beings from the Biblical creation
accounts. (7mks)
i. Human beings are created in the image / likeness of God.
ii. Human beings are co-creators with God / have to continue with God’s work of creation.
iii. Human life is God- given / have the breath of life from God
iv. They have authority / dominion over God’s creation/ superior to the rest of creation
v. Human beings have the ability to think / reason./ they are rational beings.
vi. Human beings are social beings/ need companionship.
vii. They have a duty to take care of God’s creation / till the land
viii. They are blessed by God
ix. Man and woman are equal before God
x. Human beings are to procreate through marriage / multiply / fill the earth.
xi. They have been created to obey / fellowship with God.
xii. The woman was created out of he man’s rib.

b). With reference to the story of the face of human beings in Genesis 3, state seven effects of
sin on Adam and Eve. (7mks)
i. They started dying yet they were to live forever
ii. They became afraid of God/they hid when he called them
iii. They lost authority over the other creations
iv. Man was to rule over the woman / inequality between man and woman set in.
v. The woman was to be in more pain when giving birth.
vi. They developed enmity between the human beings and the serpent.
vii. They became embarrassed because of their nakedness
viii. They were expelled out of the Garden of Eden.

c). How does the church help to bring back members who have fallen from their
faith? (6mks)
i. By visiting them / inviting them
ii. By being patient / forgiving them
iii. By evangelizing to them / preach

2. a). Describe the call of Moses (Exodus 3;1-22). (8mks)
i. Moses was looking after his father in-law’s sheep at Mt. Horeb / Sinai
ii. An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a burning bush which was not getting consumed.
iii. Moses turned to see the bush.
iv. God called his name out of the midst of the bush.
v. Moses responded by saying “Here I am’
vi. God commanded Moses not to move near / to remove his shows because the place was
holy.
vii. God revealed to Moses as God of his ancestors
viii. God told Moses that he had seen the suffering of his people in Egypt and had come to
deliver them.
ix. Wanted to send Moses to Pharaoh to release his people.
x. Moses was reluctant to be sent to Pharaoh
xi. God promised to be with him.
xii. Moses sought to know the name of God who was sending him and revealed His name as “I
am who I am.”
xiii. God told Moses to go and gather elders of Israel and tell them God’s message about their
deliverance.
xiv. Moses was told to go with elders to Pharaoh to ask their release from Egypt.

b). Identify seven ways in which God demonstrated His love for the Israelites during the
exodus. (7mks)
i. God made a passage / way in the red sea for the Israelites to cross
ii. He provided them with manna
iii. He provided them with Quails
iv. He provided them with water
v. He defeated their enemies / the Amalekites
vi. He provided them with a cloud to lead them during the day
vii. Pillar of fire at night
viii. He provided them with able leaders.
ix. He drowned the Egyptian Chariots in the Red sea.
x. He entered into a covenant with them
xi. He forgave them when they broke the covenant.

c). How do Christians in Kenya show respect for places of worship? (5mks)
i. They maintain cleanliness in place of worship
ii. In some cases, they remove shoes.
iii. They decorate places of worship
iv. They dress decently when going to places of worship
v. Constructing beautiful / large places of worship
vi. Dedicating all instruments / property to church leaders.
vii. Observing/ maintaining silence during service

4. a)Outline Jeremiah’s prophecies about the messiah (Jeremiah 23: 5 - 6). (6mks)
i. The messiah would come from house of David
ii. He would be righteous
iii. He would reign as a King
iv. The messiah would rule wisely
v. He would bring salvation upon Judah.
vi. He would execute justice in Judah.
vii. He would provide security/safety in Israel.

b) State the similarities in the announcement of the birth of John the Baptist and that of
Jesus. (7mks)
i. In both cases the message was brought by Angel Gabriel.
ii. In both cases Zachariah and Mary were afraid when the Angel appeared to them.
iii. In both incidences the possibility of the message was doubted.
iv. In both cases the names of the children to be born were given by the Angel.
v. In both cases the children to be born were going to be the first born.
vi. In both cases the children were to be God’s servant / responsibilities were foretold
vii. In both cases Mary and Zechariah were given signs to confirm the message.

c) Identify lessons Christians learn from the life of Zachariah and Elizabeth. (7mks)
i. Christians should have faith in God.
ii. They should lead righteous lives.
iii. They should serve God diligently
iv. They should be prayerful
v. They should relate well with others
vi. They should thank God for His blessings
vii. They should desire to be led by the Holy Spirit
viii. They should obey God’s commandments
ix. They should praise /worship the Lord.

5. a) Describe the call of first disciples Lk 5:1 – 11 (8mks)
i. Jesus was standing by the lake of Gennesaret/ Lake Galilee
ii. He saw the boats without the fishermen.
iii. He entered Simons boat and asked them to push it into the water.
iv. He sat down and He taught people from the boat
v. He asked Simon to push the boat into the deep water
vi. Simon told Jesus that they had been fishing the whole night without success
vii. He obeyed Jesus’ command and let the nets down
viii. They caught a lot of fish and asked their partners in the other boat to assist them remove
the nets.
ix. They filled both boats with fish and the boat began to sink
x. Simon Peter and his companions were astonished to the miraculous catch of fish.
xi. Jesus told Peter not to be afraid because he was to catch men.
xii. They brought their boats & followed Jesus.

b) Give reasons why Jesus chose the twelve disciples. (6mks)
i. In order to teach them secrets of the Kingdom of God.
ii. To have companions
iii. To form an inner group which should assist him during his public ministry.
iv. To be witnesses to his saving acts.
v. To reveal his person / give a new understanding of his messiahship
vi. It symbolized the reconstruction of the 12 tribes of Israel
vii. To train/prepare them for the mission after his death
viii. To lay a foundation for the establishment of the Church

c) Give six reasons why some Christians find it difficult to help the needy. (6mks)

i. Some Christians lack what to share with the needy


ii. There are too many needy cases in the society
iii. Sometimes its difficult to identify the needy cases since some tend to pretend
iv. Due to tribal / ethnic barriers whereby some do not help those who belong to other
communities
v. Denominational differences whereby some Christians are not ready to share with those
who do not belong to their group

vii. Political affiliations/ influence
viii. Lack of time / too busy
6a). Identify Peter’s message on the day of Pentecost. (7mks)
i. Peter stood up and explained what was happening and defended the disciples for not being
drunk
ii. He explained that what was happening was the fulfillment of Joel prophesies when God
would send His spirit.
iii. The Messianic age had arrived in the persons of Jesus Christ.
iv. Jesus of Nazareth was a man commanded to Israel by God through His mighty deeds
wonders and signs.
v. Jesus suffered and was crucified by sinful people in accordance with God’s plan
vi. God had raised Jesus from the dead to fulfill the prophesy of King David that Jesus should
not taste death.
vii. The apostles are living witnesses to the resurrection of Jesus.
viii. God has exalted Jesus and made Him both Lord and Judge.
ix. Jesus has sent the Holy Spirit through whom the disciples are speaking in tongues.
x. Jesus is a descendant of David.
xi. The people who heard Peter’s message were moved and asked Peter what they were to do.
xii. Peter invited them to repent and be baptized in the name of Christ for the forgiveness of
sins and reception of the Holy spirit.
xiii. About 3,000 people were converted to Christianity on that day.

v. Wisdom is used by Christians to interpret scriptures and mysteries of God and in decision
making.
vi. With faith, Christians have courage to condemn evils.
vii. Gift of distinguishing spirits helps Christians to differentiate between the Holy Spirit and
evil spirits.
viii. Demonstrate love by taking care of needy.
