Script: Detection and Mitigation of Dim Voltage in Electronic Appliances
Slide 1: Title Slide
"Hello everyone, I am Hitesh a student of Grade 9.
Today, I’m going to present my project titled ‘Detection and Mitigation of Dim Voltage in Electronic Appliances.’"
Slide 2: Introduction – What is Dim Voltage?
Have you ever seen lights flickering or a fan running unusually slow? That’s often because of something called dim voltage. It happens when the voltage drops below the normal level that appliances need to run properly. Even though it seems minor, it can cause serious damage if ignored.
Slide 3: Effects of Dim Voltage
Dim voltage doesn’t just make appliances underperform – it actually harms them. Motors overheat, electronic parts wear out, and devices like refrigerators or water pumps start to fail over time. These issues lead to higher repair costs and even reduce the lifespan of your appliances.
Slide 4: Problem Statement
The problem is simple: our appliances aren't protected against these sudden voltage drops. Especially in areas with frequent fluctuations, this can cause daily inconvenience and long-term damage. So, we need a smart solution – one that can detect low voltage and respond quickly before any damage occurs. Slide 5: Proposed Solution – Voltage Detection Circuit To solve this, I designed a Voltage Detection Circuit. It constantly monitors the incoming voltage, and when it senses a drop below the safe limit, it disconnects the appliance automatically. This prevents the appliance from running under harmful voltage conditions.
Slide 6: Components Used
Let’s take a quick look at the components used in this system: - An Arduino to act as the brain and make decisions. - A voltage sensor to measure the supply in real-time. - A relay module that acts like a switch to cut off power when needed. - And a power supply with protective casing to keep the system safe and durable..
Slide 7: How It Works
Here’s how the system works: The voltage sensor continuously measures the supply. If the voltage drops below a pre-set threshold, the Arduino sends a signal to the relay. This disconnects the appliance from power until the voltage returns to normal. When everything is safe again, the system reconnects the appliance automatically.
Slide 9: Benefits of the System
What makes this system special is that it's: - Affordable, thanks to basic components, - Easy to install, even for non-technical users, - Highly reliable, because it acts faster than a human could, - And versatile, meaning it can be used for homes, schools, offices, or even rural areas with weak power infrastructure. Slide 10: Real-World Applications This circuit has a wide range of real-world applications. It can protect home appliances, be used in school labs, or even be deployed in small factories or shops. It’s especially useful in areas where voltage fluctuations are common and unpredictable.
Slide 11: Challenges & Future Improvements
Now let’s talk about what can be improved. Currently, the circuit is best suited for low to medium power appliances. We plan to upgrade it for heavier appliances like ACs. Also, it would be more user-friendly if it could monitor and send alerts via a mobile app. We’re also exploring how to make it compatible with smart home systems and improve its durability for outdoor use. And with AI, it could even adjust voltage thresholds automatically based on the appliance type.
Slide 12: Conclusion
To conclude, dim voltage is a silent problem – but one that causes real damage. This simple circuit offers a smart, affordable, and automatic solution that protects our devices, saves money, and extends appliance life. With just a few components, we can make a big difference.
