Engineering and Technology Course Name: Electronic
Electronics & Communications Dept. Circuits 2
Instructor: Prof. Nazmi Azzam
TAs: Eng. Ghada Course Code: COMM 326

Sheet 2: (lec. 2) part 1

Q1) Indicate whether each of the following statements is true or false (correct the
false)
1. Non inverting configuration suffers from low input impedance problem.
2. Buffer is one of the important applications of the non-inverting configuration.
3. CMRR is an important measurement for the accuracy of the difference amplifier.
4. it’s easy to vary the differential gain for the single stage differential amplifier.
5. Instrumentation amplifier solves the problem of limited input impedance for the single stage
difference amplifier without gain enhancement.
6. Follower with gain is used in constructing the instrumentation amplifier.

Q2) Problems
P1: Design a circuit based on the topology of the noninverting amplifier to obtain a gain of +1.5
V/V, using only 10-kΩ resistors. Note that there are two possibilities. One of them using
two resistors in the series path, and other in the parallel path with the output voltage.

P2: Design a non inverting amplifier with a gain of 2. At the maximum output of 10 v current in
the voltage divider to be 10µA.

P3.
P3-a) Use superposition to show that the output of the circuit that is shown in Fig 1 is provided

P3-b) Design the Circuit to obtain ((vo= -2vN1+vP1+2vP2)). [Get relations and draw the designed
circuit 1st then substitute by assuming RN1 = Rp2= 10 KΩ]

P4: For the circuit shown in Fig. 2, use superposition to find vo in terms of the following input
voltages v1, v2. Assume ideal op-amp operation.

P5: The circuit shown in Fig. 3 utilizes non-inverting configuration as a 10-kΩ potentiometer to
realize an adjustable-gain amplifier.

P5-a) Derive an expression for the gain as a function of the potentiometer setting x. Assume the
op amp to be ideal. What is the range of gains obtained?
P5-b) Show how to add a fixed resistor so that the gain range can be 1 to 21 V/V. What should
the resistor value?
