Question 3:
A submarine is a type of ship that travels underwater. Submarines can change
their density to float or sink. The diagram shows a section through the inside of
a submarine.
The submarine changes density by changing the volume of air and the volume
of water in the ballast tank.
Complete the table using the words increase or decrease to show how these
volumes change for floating and sinking.

Question 6:
Complete these sentences using the best words or letter.
I. Sound travels as sound waves.
[1]
As the loudness of a sound increases, the _______________ of the sound wave
increases.
As the pitch of a sound increases, the _______________ of the sound wave
increases.
II. The diagrams show the waveforms of four sounds, A–D, as displayed on
an oscilloscope screen.
[1]
The quietest sound is _______________ and the highest pitch sound is
_______________.
III. When two sound waves meet, they can reinforce each other or cancel
each other.
The diagram shows the waveform of one sound wave.
[1]
On the grid below, draw the waveform of a wave that will reinforce this
sound.
IV. A sound wave, P, can be heard clearly. Wave P has constant frequency
and constant amplitude. Another sound wave, R, cancels P completely.
a) Describe what is heard when P and R cancel.
